Mardi Gras 2006

New Orleans didn’t let Katrina get her down. The once-shaken, victims’ optimism shined on Fat Tuesday, as they celebrated the first Mardi Gras since Hurricane Katrina. Decked out in beads and fancy masks, many described the day as a much needed return to normalcy. www.newsobserver.com

11 Life Sentences

Nurse of various medical facilities, Charles Cullen, was sentenced to 11 life sentences yesterday. Cullen pleaded guilty to committing 22 murders in New Jersey and seven in Pennsylvania. The serial killer gave his patients lethal doses of medication, claiming that he was an “angel of mercy” releasing them from their suffering. The family members of his victims directly shared their anger and remorse in court with Cullen. www.cnn.com

Pretty $10 Bill

The government added a little color, orange, yellow and red to be exact, to good old Alexander Hamilton’s portrait. The new $10 bill, shipped out the banks all over the country yesterday, was created in order to stay ahead of counterfeiters. www.komoradio.com
