“We’ve come a long way, baby!”

Yes, ladies, we have. Our “role” in society has evolved into so much more since the apron-wearing, barefoot-in-the-kitchen days. Thanks to the Women’s Movement, girls grow up feeling as though the sky’s the limit; anything is possible when it comes to school, career and relationships.

Yet unless you’ve taken a women’s studies course, you’re probably unaware of the obstacles women continue to face. Beyond college, the world is full of them, especially when male and female salaries are compared. Statistics show that, on average, women make 76 cents for every dollar a man makes. Depending on the profession, this number varies, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
