Nothing can quench your thirst better than a Sprite.
Nothing calms your sweet tooth better than a Diet Pepsi.
Nothing caps your night better than a Rum and Coke.
So you’re in love with a beverage. But don’t be blinded by your infatuation; soda might just be your unhealthiest boyfriend.
He fattens your waistline. Each 12-oz. can has about nine teaspoons of sugar and about 150 calories. The average American drinks two of these a day. That’s more than 2,000 calories extra a week. Whoa, Momma!
He lessens your cash flow. The dollars spent yearly on sweetened soft drinks continues to increase. A 1997 USDA study showed that Americans spent more than $54 billion to buy 14 billion gallons of soda. This means, on average, each American consumed 576 cans a year.
He lowers the nutrition in your diet. Soda, sweetened teas and “sports drinks” displace nutrients from healthy beverages like milk and fruit juice, rendering your body deficient in calcium and vitamins C and D. Even though these sweetened drinks contain a lot of calories, they do nothing to curb the appetite. Therefore, you are likely to consume too many calories each day.
It won’t be easy, but you should probably kick soda to the curb and hook-up with someone genuine and rich (in antioxidants), like pomegranate juice.
Of course, you love girly magazines. Cosmo is practically your bible.
The latest sexual position, beauty product or fashion trend … you know about it. But what about the deeper issues?
We’ve established that being a female is no walk-in-the-park. Yet the hard stuff doesn’t only come from the lack of sexual spice in your life or the fact that your pores are on the large side. Everything stems from the role we have as women in society. Very rarely do mainstream magazines delve into the touchy topic what it really means to be female.
So if you’re interested in reading about an open examination of the female experience, check out some of the national feminist magazines:
1) Ms. Magazine was the first national magazine to make feminist voices heard, feminist journalism read and a feminist perspective publicized.

2) Bitch is a print magazine devoted to insightful observations on our media-driven world. Critiques of TV, movies, advertising, etc. are featured.

3) BUST presents an uncensored view of the feminine experience.

4) LILITH charts Jewish women’s lives with exuberance, rigor, affection, subversion and style.

5) New Moon is the magazine for girls who want their voices heard and their dreams taken seriously.

I just graduated from college and my boyfriend and I don’t live near each other at home. I love him, but I’m not sure if I want to continue long distance. What should I do?

Though it’s painful, you should have been preparing for this moment from the get go. Unless career plans or finances enable you to move near your boyfriend, it may be time to call it quits. They say that college is the best years of your life, but that’s just because of the endless partying and no parents. Post college is a different type of fun, something more intelligent and spontaneous. There’s a lot of potential in the “real world” to meet different kinds of people and of all ages. Depending on how far away you two are, the amount of time apart just gives more time to go out and explore what’s out there. You’re still young so go out enjoy life after college. Trust me, once you’re over the fact that you’ll be working for the next 60+ year of your life, it’s not that bad.
When my boyfriend and I have sex, he always wants to do it away from the bed. I’ve never done this with anyone else, but why does he like it so much off the bed?
- Samara
Everything a guy does in a relationship is based on his personal feelings. What one guy likes, another may hate and how one guy thinks isn’t the same as the next. With each sexual partner comes a new chemistry (or lack there of). This situation with your boyfriend is definitely a good thing because he’s comfortable enough with you to try and spice things up to get creative. Plus, some positions are just better off the bed. Try and enjoy yourself by focusing on the act rather than on your location. Let yourself feel and adjust to the new sensations your body experiences while at different positions. Then, when sex gets back on the bed, it’ll be all that more pleasurable because you’re not used to it. The most important thing for a guy to have in the bedroom is confidence and without that, he’s powerless. Just be thankful your guy is confident enough to post you up against the wall. Some couples never do more than missionary … on the bed (yawn).
