Too much sun and too little sunscreen took my Cabo trip last year, from hot to bothered faster than I could say SPF. This time around I vow only to allow an Abercrombie-esque guy heat me up in Mexico. Sorry sun.

I hate greasy and sticky sunscreen that attracts every grain of sand on the beach, so to protect my body from the not-so-hot (no pun intended) lobster look, I will use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 ($10, drugstore.com). This one actually lives up to its “fast-absorbing” promise for a powdery matte finish on skin.   Coppertone Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 30 ($12, walgreens.com) smells a little bit like bug spray, but the aerosol packaging means you don’t even have to rub it in.

For my face (gotta to protect my puss), I will use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 ($10.50, drugstore.com), perfect for my acne-prone skin. And Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion SPF 30 for Face ($8.99, walgreens.com) to block the sun. Note: A little goes a long way with this thick cream. The white-nosed lifeguard look doesn’t even work on a Baywatch bod.

Oh and don’t let me forget my pout! FYI: The delicate skin on our lips burns easier than bone-dry kindling. And a cracked, peeling kisser is probably not going to get me a whole lot of surfside action. To safeguard my smile I will use Kiehl’s Lip Balm SPF 15 ($7.50, kiehl’s.com) and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Lip Balm ($1.35, drugstore.com).
