“Sumthin Serious”-ly Wrong with the Music Industry these Days
I gotta know…what has the music world come to? Apparently the industry now revolves strictly around songs that exhibit an artist’s ability to spell. Now this is by no means a thrash against Fergie because she is totally hot and she totally rocks the alphabet like no other. However, it’s groups like The Audio Club that take Fergie’s money-making spelling techniques and turns them into garbage—G-A-R-B-A-G-E!
Having recently heard their most recent single, “Sumthin Serious,” on the radio while happily driving and boppin’ around in my car, by song’s end I wanted to choke myself to death with the strings of my sweat-shirt. I couldn’t believe that music industry moguls allowed for such crap to be put into production and even worse, smeared all over the airwaves. The song has even made the 9 at 9 on z100.
And you know what else? Considering that this is a song about spelling (useless words like serious and grind, accompanied by an incredibly un-catchy beat and an annoying lead-singing girl—or should we stay stripper turned pop-“star”), you think they would be more meticulous in the spelling of the song’s title—but I guess that’s just asking too much now isn’t it?
Please for the love of music and all that is right with the world; do NOT listen to this song. Ban it from your iTune’s playlist, change the station if you hear it playing on the radio and just avoid this ridiculous and annoying song at all cost. This is definitely something you should take serious—seriously don’t listen to this song, ever—E-V-E-R!
