Your New Favorite Drinking Game!

College Kids and Drinking Games: is there any more compatible pair? Kids have long been playing Beer Pong, Kings, and Quarters, but I would like to introduce you to my personal favorite: Nails (or, in some parts of the world, “Stump”).

Equipment:

- Tree stump (or other large block of wood)

- Standard badass hammer

- Galvanized nails (one per player)

Objective:

- Knock all other players out of game.

- A player is knocked out of the game when the head of her nail is beneath the surface of the stump (be it hammered or bent).

Rules of Play:

- Each player stands in front of a nail with a beer in one hand (not holding a drink is an immediate forfeit).

- Determine who will go first (perhaps with a fun numbers game like, “Whoever has slept with the most people should go first.”)

- Gameplay moves in a clockwise direction.

- A turn involves tossing the hammer in the air. Hammer must make one full mid-air rotation. As the hammer falls, the player must catch its handle and redirect its fall onto an opponent’s nail head.

- If player does not catch hammer, he loses his turn. If turn is successful, player is allowed another turn.

- If a player’s nail is somehow ejected from the stump, player may use her next turn to hammer nail back into stump (while still holding beer throughout).

Drinking:

- A player must drink if hammer is caught, stopped, or dropped.

- A player must drink if her nail is ejected.

- A player must drink entirety of cup once nail is completely hammered.

- All players must drink when hammer strike causes a spark.

Precaution:

- Nails is kinda dangerous. The more room to spread out, the better. Outdoor play is recommended.
