I’m a bit of a Myspace whore. I know, the Facebook works so much better, and has much better features, but there’s just something about Myspace that I can’t get enough of.
I fill out too many surveys, I hunt down ex-boyfriends, I search for people who were in my 2nd grade class that I haven’t spoken to in 10 years. It’s the best waste of my time ever. I’m also a huge music fan—I love to find new artists and fancy myself really cool when I get a CD before anyone else knows who they are. I don’t know… it’s the little things in life.
Last night, while I was looking through my bulletins for a survey I hadn’t filled out yet (extremely hard to come by), I came across a post from Jessie Baylin (very cool singer who everyone should be listening to right now). She had just been selected as the featured artist on a Myspace page called The Hub.
The Hub combines both my love of Myspace and music. They focus on finding up and coming artists and spreading the word. Everyday The Hub has something new up there—Monday’s are new videos from a featured artist, Tuesdays showcase new record releases, Wednesdays are 20 questions with the featured artist… the list obviously goes on, but I figure you can check out the rest of the week by yourself.
Along the sideof the page are other musicians The Hub supports—Priscilla Ahn, Josh Kelley, Rocco Deluca, Brandi Carlile, and Marc Broussard to name a few—and I think I like their taste in music. I’m thinking you may too. I looked at the pages of the artists I didn’t know, and was seriously feeling all of them.
Take a look and see what you think. If you know of an artist who should be up there, send them a note—they’re always taking suggestions!
