White girls should not be offended by derogatory comments directed toward black people. However, black people should be offended because that was very disrespectful. But the black community needs to consider greater dangers like hip-hop culture promoting promiscuity, think how many births are out of wedlock. black-on-black violence, disdain for education (I've seen people be proud of not knowing stuff because it makes them look not nerdy), selling drugs as a way out of the rat race, using inappropriate language that will not suffice in profesional spheres. And although some guys laugh at female sports, I LOVE basketball. I'm 6'0 and could only dunk for about 6 months when I was at a good playing weight, but since I gained weight, I really enjoy watching the women's game because I learn practical things to use in pick up games, whereas the ridiculous athleticism of the NBA really doesn't help me because I can't replicate those moves.

If you watch, the white girls saw it as a gender issue and not so much race.

First of all if your gonna interview about a racist comment you might wanna ask the people who the comment acctually effect…only 2 out of 10 of the girls in this video were black….Or “African American” so I don’t get sued and fired. But llook at that word….African American…..How many blaks are actually african anymore….you can’t say anything without getting a negative reaction anymore. Plus the guys a shock jock….Mayn others have said much worse…. Howard Stern, Grego from 99.7 WBZX in Columbus Ohio, and his co-host Moe….who is black, but does tht make his coomments o.k. cause Moe is black it’s o.k. and cause Grego has a black male co-host he’s allowed to say what he wants. People need to get over themselves…..racist comments are directed towards all races all the time, and blacks are the only ones that bitch and moan about it. I think I’m done for now.

One of my six my daughter plays for the Rutgers Basketball Team and, in all fairness, I never buy her shampoo…and she DOES get around.

First let me start out by saying that Imus' comments were abhorrent. However, the reaction to his comments have been equally awful. Imus should have been punished, no doubt about it… however, being fired when around all of us is music, talk radio, etc that is 10X as offensive. It is not selective in its prejudice either. Blacks sluring whites, whites sluring blacks etc… For the Revs Sharpton and Jackson to get on tv and assume to roles of moral arbiters is disgraceful. These men are guilty of so many infractions, far too many to list here. They are the ones who excellerated this situation. They made it into a witch hunt and they won. They won the battle but will lose the war. As long as they choose to blame people like Imus and look the other way when dealing with countless other injustices, the problem will never be solved. The other thing I would bring up is that we shouldn't expect people to just go away when they offend someone. Imus said something stupid and irresponsible. However he apologized countless times and even met with the Rutgers Womens Basketball Team. How much more do you want from him? You try being live on the radio for 20 hours? Its hard. And while I am not making excuses for his comment, people need to grow up. If you don't like what he is saying, don't listen to it. Furthermore lets think of the best way to move forward. Imus gives and raises money for countless charities and places that do good work. If he were allowed to remain on the air he could have used his vast influence to bring attention to the real ills of society. Instead reationaries such as yourselves on this site have called for his ouster… and you won this round. But, until you recognize that this language is systemic to the very lives we all live. It is integral for better or worse. Try to keep an open and forgiving mind next time.

Hey Rutgers…go a pair. he's an entertainer, not a role model. if al sharpton would have said it it wouldnt have been racist.
