Mother Knows Best

Mother Knows BestOkay so over the years my mom has nagged, yelled, lectured and given me advice more times than I can count.

Whether it be a problem with a friend or the way I am folding my laundry, my mom has something to say about it. I often roll my eyes or tune her out, but tonight I had an epiphany. I found myself five times saying “my mom always says….” Clearly my Momma knows what she is talking about! I bet yours does too (at least more than we give them credit for)

So in light of Mothers day coming up (and still no perfect present in mind) I thought I’d share a couple of my mom’s life lessons that I have found to be oh-so-true.

Mom’s Life Lessons

1.“Guys always think with their little heads not with their big ones”

2.“No matter what anyone tells you, guys like the chase. They resort back to caveman days and want to feel as though they had to go out and hunt you down. Let him call you. Play hard to get.”

3.“If a friend of yours talks shit to you about another friend, chances are she is talking about you behind your back as well.”

4.“Stand up straight, it makes you look more confident, prevents back and neck problems… and instantly makes you look five pounds thinner.”

5.“Guys don’t fall often, but when they do- they fall hard.”

6.“At the airport, if your bags are overweight, always go to curb side check in. Hold a generous tip in your hand as you check in. Chances are the attendant will see the tip he is about to get and not charge you for the bags.” (This one has come in handy so many times!)

7.“It takes twenty minutes for you to register that you are full. In that time you can eat four bagels or you can eat one. Either way in twenty minutes you will be full. So sloooow down and you will eat much less!”

8.“A few true friends are all you really need”

9. “If you haven’t worn it in a year, you aren’t ever going to wear it. Give it to charity so someone else can benefit from it.”

10. “It wouldn’t kill you to put on a bit of makeup and wear something besides sweats to class/the drugstore/wherever- you never know who you are going to meet”.

Happy Mothers day to our mom’s who have made us wiser in so many ways (and might I add, much neater). We may not always appreciate your advice at the time, but it admittedly comes in handy.

Oh and for those of you who still need a card/gift here are some websites with some helpful last minute ideas! (Sunday May 13th is Mothers Day)
