Eileen stop spouting off the propoganda that you so readily devoured. Tanning has been proven as a link to skin cancer because of obvious scientific reasoning. UV radiation can create mutations in your DNA thus leading to harmful tumors, carninoma, and melanoma. Also I've said this a million times and nobody seems to listen. Anecdotal evidence is NOT evidence. That is, yo can't use your own personal life to prove a point. That is just poor debating

Eileen, you're an idiot if you believe that health care providers are trying to trick people into buying sunscreen. NUMEROUS studies have definitely proven the correlation between tanning (especially tanning beds) and premature aging like age spots (melasma), wrinkling, and squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Just because your family didn't face the disastrous consequences of tanning doesn't mean that millions of others haven't DIED because of it. Tanning exposes your skin to RADIATION. That means that particles penetrate your body and can even alter your DNA. Continue to bake if you want, but don't encourage others to live an unhealthy lifestyle that could prove fatal.

I am currently 46 yrs old and have tanned most of my life. I’m all about health and I never really burned aside from once in Miami by accident and one in the Bahamas. I misjudged the strength of the sun there. If I were smart back then would’ve built a base tan at a professional salon. Any professional salon could’ve told you the dangers of mineral oil on your body. There are no scietific studies linking tanning to skin cancer. There are opinions by derms that make 35 billion dollars a year brainwashing you into putting on sunscreen. There are 5 girls in my family the one that sat on the roof with baby oil many times and got sun poisioning did get non-melanoma skin cancer. Nothing with my parents or other 5 siblings. We had a built in pool and swam a lot. I’m extremely healthy for my age and love to challenge my body on a dialy basis. I have sons 19 and 22 and get carded on occasion at clubs. If I were you I would take control of my own health and don’t get mislead by money grabbing theives. Stop by Dr. Mercola’s website or http://www.tanningtruth.com or tantalk.com uv advantage forum for some valuable information you are being denied. Goodluck and get outside on occasion and enjoy the sun that gives us our existance… plants, trees, wildlife need it why shouldn’t we?

ps. do a search on the dana farber cancer institutes study that shows tanning might prevent skin cancer.
