The idea has nothing to do with being 'gay' per se: that's just something that the media has tagged onto the proposal as an explanation of sorts.

The proposal outlined a chemical weapon designed to cause a significant chemical and/or hormonal imbalance which influenced the behavior and mental state of enemy troops when deployed. The intended effect was that of massive infatuation with each other, and significant sexual arousal such that normal (military) activities were disrupted to the extent that a significant tactical disadvantage was achieved.

If you read the published papers, the system was not described as a 'gay bomb.' It was also put alongside plans for other chemical weapons, including those to attract insects and vermin to enemy encampments, or inducing significant thirst (both, again, aimed at disrupting their normal activities).

It is not *always* appropriate to assume that anything is specifically homophobic. In response to some of your comments:

2) Though overall sexual orientation has not been shown to be alterable by single chemical doses, sexual attraction, activity and desire *have* been shown to derive chemical influences. In this way, its possible to make individuals more or less sexually active through chemical stimulation, even if this does not alter their ongoing sexual orientation.

3) The system was not intended simply to convert heterosexuals to homosexuals as you seem to believe. As outlined above, it was to massively overwhelm normal activity by inducing a state *not* found in either homosexuals or heterosexuals most of the time.

4) The 7.5m price tag was for the proposal which included this chemical weapon, and others (such as those mentioned above).

You are taking it too literally. It is talking about Sex on the mind with anyone they come in contact with, man or woman, you moron. How can you disrespect our country and our soldiers saying we are fighting for no reason. Do you see the shows they have thier young children watch over there. Their tv shows and school teachings are reinforcing them to HATE and KILL ALL AMERICANS. not just the "conservative" ones. Do a little more research and keep an open mind. What is going on in the middle east is a lot more than what you hear on CNN. Plus all you liberals want "Love and not War" maybe they should have developed that bomb.
