As a strong advocate for play time, I am always up for anything spontaneous. Whether it’s something simple like skipping class to go on an impromptu shopping extravaganza with my closest lady friends, or more daring like impulsively deciding to go bungee jumping in a skirt (A feat my mother has accomplished at the ripe age of fifty-one…and you wonder where I get it from). If it’s daring and it’s fun, sign me up.
There’s just something strangely liberating about being brave, about stepping outside your comfort zone. So for all you bored rigid sun-drunk college girls out there who are feeling fed up with your summer jobs or deliriously restless with your lack thereof, here are five trouble-chasing, fun-seeking, life-loving ways to shove a little excitement into summer. Because we all know rules are made to be broken.
1. Be someone else. If only for a day, undo your daily routine. If you usually spend an eternity on your makeup, stick with blush and let your tan do the talking. If you’re more of an earthy girl, put on some bright colored lipstick and use a little hairspray. If you’re feeling extra ballsy, chop your long locks into a short bob, like Katie Holmes’ or give in to curiosity, buy some bleach, and see if blondes really do have more fun. (Though I can tell you now, there’s no way they do.)
2. Kiss him first. Nothing can make a girl feel like she’s living life on the edge more than when she’s in complete control. No, that cute guy that works at the coffee shop by your internship does not give those come-hither smiles to every customer. Take his flirty eyes as an invitation and DO something about it! Next time he hands you your iced coffee, hand him your number. And if you’ve already got your arm-candy for the summer, then grab the reigns and initiate a steamy hook up. He will never be more turned on.
3. Trespass. It’s Wednesday night and you and your girls had one too many glasses of wine during the newest episode of Traveler. Now what? Head over to your local swimming pool, jump the fence, and splash about a bit! Just make sure they don’t have those silent alarm systems, tricky buggers.
4. Be a groupie. Every girl has that sexy musician naughty backstage/tour bus fantasy. (Or is that just me?) I’m not saying chase him down until it comes true, (if I was, I might as well tell you STD’s are in this season.) I am telling you to take a road trip with a friend, and follow your favorite band to different venues. Not only will you get to listen to music that you love, but I promise you’ll have enough stories to tell by the second stop to last you all summer.
5. Make a list. The summer is the best time to figure yourself out, what you want to do, who you want to be. It’s not like you don’t have enough free time to let your mind wander a bit. Grab a pen, and jot down a list of things you want to do before you die, (A Walk to Remember-esque, yes.) Now the fun part, DO at least one of those things before the summer’s up. Go skinny dipping, paint a picture you like enough to put up on your wall, read that novel you never seem to have time for. Every college girl knows how oh-so important it is to actually live before you die. So what are you waiting for?

It started off like any other football Saturday: beer pong and well-done burgers on my friend’s roof at 8am. Except unlike most Saturdays, I was dominating the beer pong table. By the time we had to leave for the game, I had 5 games, 7 beers and a hamburger bun under my belt. And I was drunk.
