Baby, I get asked out all the time and wear my Ipod everywhere I go. Guys literally stop me like 5-10 times a day to talk with me. I think it’s cute and I enjoy having guys buy me breakfast, lunch and dinner plus drinks. Sometimes they take me clothes shopping too. I have a closet full of new clothes that I never paid for. I rarely spend money on anything but guys just take care of it for me everyday -haha.

yeeeah, this happened to me last semester. i was in the library studying with my ipod on, and the cute guy i had a huge crush on came in. we talked for a while, and he motioned me to take my headphones off, i took one out. he left shortly after. i felt like an idiot.

I bought my iPod for the specific reason of tuning out the crazies. It seems that whether or not they’re cute they’re crazy. Before my iPod there was my discman and before that my walkman.
Here’s why: almost each and every time I leave home without one of my soul stealers I run into either a) a flasher, b) a stalker c) the angry guy who thinks I should jump into his bed because he deigns to speak to me or d) the guy who thinks he’s so smart I should be grateful for the chance to bear his children. So apart from the people I’ve met in controlled environments like my school or have been introduced to by friends I don’t have the good luck of finding sane people to talk to.
So I think I’ll just keep my soul stealer plugged into my ears and walk very fast so as not to get followed home by the latest flasher/stalker. (Maybe I should move to another country).

I find that cute guys who really want to talk to me will do so whether I’ve got my iPod with me or not. Today in Hyvee, while wearing my soul-stealer, I got a tap on the shoulder and an invite to go clubbing. If a guy’s gonna be put off by a pair of headphones, was he worth it in the first place?

I’ve started leaving my iPod at home too for the same reason, and have now started getting angry at all the cute indie boys listening to their iPods and scribbling away in their journals on the subway. I swear, I’ve burned holes through their copies of “Catcher in the Rye” with my “please look up” stare.
