to "Mel"

I have a MAJOR problem with your comment

"But no, I think I’ll keep my size six jeans, my boobs, and my soul, and be very happy about it."

People act like eating disorder patients are doing some disservice to society, that they are somehow *choosing* to suffer from these illnesses, and that in doing so they are immoral.

Did it ever occur to you that these girls are terribly miserable and that their preoccupation with food has less to do with vanity and more to do with their having redirected other problems/pain/unhappiness onto food/eating?

Geez.

;alskdfj;asldkfj!! I'm watching my playlist thinspos on youtube right now and the last month ish dropped 25 pounds.

Gained ana and freaking mia back (had it freshman year of highschool). Gained the life of secrets, lies bottled water and diet pills. I hate the not eatting and the prugeing when I do... BUT I'm getting compliments like crazy. Which keep me going my goal is crazy I know but it's my thought of personal PERFECTION... by summer I will get to 75-85 pounds

It's more about the control and satisfactions you get more then the not eatting. This is a world I would wish apon no one... rehab is in my near future for it

ok done with the rambles of crap.

I will admit (albeit under a false name) I do use thinspration videos from youtube. However, I am obese, and am finally trying to make a positive change in my life. I watch the videos while I excercise at home, to try to inspire me to not cutting my excercise short. Yes, the videos are perhaps portraying unrealistic ideals, and can have negative results(See nip/tuck? lol). But there is also a positive to this, but like everythng else in this world, it must be used responsibly.

Wow, 213Dude. I understand you want to get the point across that people should take responsbility for their actions by losing weight...but what you do not understand is that unlike men, women RETAIN their fat. It's a survival mechanism so that their OFFSPRING (such as you) would not be aborted because women cannot nourish their own body.

For guys, it is a much easier job to lose weight since guys' metabolism runs faster than women's. AND FYI, girls have a lot more responsibility of image to upkeep, or did the latest glamour magazine not inform you of that?

I totally agree with what all of you have to say. But unfortunately will i was doing research for a school paper i discovered websites with girls blogging about anorexia. they had all posted pictures of girls that looked like they were on the verge of death and were say to each other how they wanted to look like that! they believed that these very sick girls were the most beautiful women and then were striving to be just like them. while i was reading there comments i could help but feel sick, i was trying to think of something to say to respond to there posts and maybe just help a tiny bit, but all that was going through my head was the disterbing pictures of these girl's frail, weak and bony bodies.

Some of them looked good, but some of them looked drastically underweight too. sad.

The media acts like it's so horrible and sad yet they completely feed it! I never saw Nicole Ritchie getting any face time when she was chunky, did you?

And if someone is a size 4 they are considered curvy? What a joke! A size 4 is STILL unattainable for most women.

What's really sad is that this is happening to these girls younger and younger. I know I NEVER cared about my weight when I was 11 like some of these kids. Prolly around 16 I started to wonder if I was fat, i guess. I wasn't.
