Get Your Own Lil’ Lohan!
Lindsay Lohan seems to be doing better than ever these days. She’s staying out of the clubs, shopping instead of snorting, and generally keeping a low profile. Much to the chagrin of paparazzo’s everywhere, all seems quiet on the Lohan front.
But that doesn’t mean the funny people over at Best Week Ever have forgotten about her.
My Lil’ Lohan, a new Facebook App developed by Best Week Ever and Plastic Past studios, allows users to either “pamper or sabotage” their own personal Lindsay Lohan.
“Each day you can choose to do something naughty or something nice to each Lil Lohan”, explain the directions on the application, “and if you can convince enough people to join you, you can stage an intervention or organize a bender for those Lil Lohans that really need it!”
If you know anyone else on Facebook with the Lil’ Lohan App, you can send and receive gifts that include sunglasses, suspicious white powder, cigarettes, and panties.
While the majority of people most likely hope Lindsay makes a full and active recovery (I say majority because I’m sure there’s a bunch who can’t wait to see her jump into a stranger’s car again with cocaine spilling out of her purse), once someone becomes a public figure, and makes a bunch of stupid decisions, the likelihood of the world forgetting about those dumb choices is pretty low. Happy Food!
I am sitting at a very long table. There are hundreds of people on all sides of me also sitting at very long tables. The only things that separate us are stacks of books, empty coffee cups and crumbs from the last meal we ate 6 hours ago. I have a highlighter and a pen stuffed into my ponytail, which I pull out whenever I need to remind myself of a topic I need to re-learn.
So far, the pen and highlighter have spent the majority of the day working their way across my notebook.
My shoes were kicked off hours ago and I would be resting my feet on the chair next to me if it weren’t for this big oafy kid neeeeeeeeding to sit there to study. Ass.
I am literally ready to pull my hair out. Ready to go home and watch some crappy reality television. Ready to do anything but study. But I can’t; I have two finals tomorrow.
And I am in a sh*tty mood.
Not even my friends visiting me with a milkshake could shake me out of this funk.
Friend or Foe?

On a particularly uneventful night my senior year, I went to the bar to grab a few drinks with some friends. We were sitting there (looking fabulous) minding our own business when a man approached. Personally, I am not a fan of thick neck hair or large ears, so I turned away and gave my cocktail some much needed attention. It seems that, in the throws of serious intoxication, one of my friends seemed to be quite taken by this man.
She chatted with him, had a few more drinks, and eventually (while running her hands through his thick, luxurious neck hair) leaned in close and whispered, “I think we are gonna go.”
After spitting Apple Martini all over the unsuspecting male perched on the bar stool beside me, I attempted to gather my thoughts. Here was one of my closest friends, someone I care deeply about, making one of the biggest mistakes of her life. Sure he looks good now (though I can’t fathom what she thinks she is looking at), but what is my friend going to do in the morning when she rolls over and finds Chewbacca in bed with her? I couldn’t possibly let that happen; it could scar her for life.
So, I did what any good girlfriend would do: I told her that I had to puke and made her take me home, leaving Furry McElephantEars to fend for himself. Read More »
Slimming Down Santa

How do you know when the world has gone too PC?When someone puts Santa on a diet.
In a shopping center near Dartford, England, Mall Santas are being put through a “month long boot camp” to help them lose weight before the Holiday season bombards their laps with little kids.
“There’s nothing wrong with Santa being the size that he is,” explains property manager Tim Holland, “we just want him to have a modern day makeover to reflect the realistic demands of being the world’s most renowned delivery man.”
Throughout November, shoppers have been able to watch 12 commissioned Santas put through the wringer by a personal trainer. While this Santa slim-down screams marketing ploy! to me, a spokeswoman from the British Heart Foundation claims “Creating a 21st Century Santa is an innovative idea encouraging children and adults to get into better shape.” Read More »
That’s Why I Bluefly

Even with the huge discounts, I still can’t afford any of the clothes on Bluefly.com. But that doesn’t stop me from taking far too much time to search the pages and pages of designer shoes, purses and clothes. There’s a pair of Gucci shoes on there that I would perhaps not kill, but certainly maim someone to own. Someday….
What I love even more than the clothes they have though, is their killer advertising. My favorite ad has to be the chick showing up naked to her own dinner party because she has nothing to wear. But what’s really catching everyone’s attention are the… soft porn-ish spots they have done. The two ads are like the hottest 30 (or if you’re lucky 90) seconds I have ever witnessed. Read More »
America’s Next Top Model Goes International
Pack your bags—you’re going to China with America’s Next Top Model!
The drama began almost as soon as the girls arrived, when the six of them fought over the five beds in their penthouse. And by “fought,” I mean that Saleisha grabbed a bed for herself that was clearly huge enough for at least two people or an orgy or something. She refused to share it with Heather, which the rest of the girls, namely Bianca, found soooo funny.
Heather failed to get the joke, as did I.
The models head to movie studio where the girls are taught martial arts, and then are immediately put to the test when they have to do the poses…on wires, suspended in air. Bianca continues to annoy me when she manages to come across bitchy talking about her fear of heights and how she’d rather be shopping.
I guess I agree with her on something—I’d rather she was shopping than in the competition too! She refuses to go up and it’s Heather that wins the challenge. And her prize, ironically, is a shopping spree.
The next morning, the girls head to shoot a CoverGirl ad and commercial, which always makes me cringe with second-hand embarrassment. Saleisha is first shooting the commercial, and totally kills it. Heather fell flat, even with Mr. Jay feeding her the lines, and I died a little bit inside watching it. Chantal makes it work too, but when Lisa gets up there, she looks like she’s about to cry.
And then she does. I wish I could make fun of her, but I’ve been known to throw up from nerves before reading a speech in class, so I’m not really one to talk here. Read More »
Get a Tattoo, Be a Human Advertising Campaign
Tattoos are always an iffy subject.
They stay on you forever, something that seems awesome at 20 (skull and crossbones with flames! Sweet!) might not seem so cool at 40 (“mommy, why do you have a scary skull on your back?”), and getting them removed is a whole hell of a lot more painful than getting them done.
Plus, people tend to look at you differently if there’s permanent ink on your arm or back or stomach.
Tattoos will always be a heavily debated topic, but what if I told you the discussion was about to get a little more complicated?
Branding Tattoos, a new way for advertisers to get their product out there and for image conscious buyers to forever connect themselves with their favorite apparel or make-up line, are slowly becoming more popular in the states.
Consumers are turning away from hearts, flowers, and tribal armbands, and getting Nike and Dior etched into their skin forever. Read More »
My Freshman Year: Day 95
Days as a Freshman: 95
Mood: Stuffed
“So…” I clicked the old flashlight onto a brighter option and pulled my hat farther down onto my face. “How was Thanksgiving at your aunt’s?”
Even though I had secretly wished he had forgotten, Daniel B. had arrived at my house a few minutes after 7 on Thanksgiving night, a giant blue coat around his skinny frame and a round plate covered in tinfoil in his hands. I had prepared my parents and my two sets of aunts and uncles for his possible arrival, but as soon as I saw his twitching face behind our glass door, I knew all the preparation in the world couldn’t save this night from becoming extremely awkward.
After an hour of good-natured attempts at questions around our large wooden table, I had suggested Daniel B. and I take my old dog Spud out for a walk. My dad’s bushy white eyebrows went up at that suggestion, and I did my best to shoot him a “don’t get any stupid ideas” look.
Usually, you invite a guy to take a walk at night because you want to make things romantic. This invitation had nothing to do with romance, and everything to do with alleviating some of the unwieldy tension in the air.
Once we were outside, our boots crunching against a tiny layer of snow that had fallen on the quiet street, my body started to relax and I could breathe normally again. I mean, I loved my parents, but my mom and dad were both older, around 65, and often didn’t comprehend me as well as I wanted them to. I don’t think they understood that I had I invited Daniel B. over out of politeness. I think they actually thought I liked him. Read More »
