The Overly Enthusiastic. I Hate Their Faces
May 3, 2008 11:30 am Posted in HaHa, Reality Candy -- NYU g+ page

I have been told I’m a team leader. I have been told that I am a social butterfly and a friend maker. I have been told that my glass is always half full. So why, oh why, do I despise the overly enthusiastic so very much?
I’ve noticed this about myself since elementary school. I just can’t be THAT excited ALL of the time. But some people can be.
You know the type…
She shows up to class early on the first day and sits in the front row. She asks irrelevant questions and smiles as if she’s just won Miss America. She screeches when she sees a little dog on the street and most sentences are prefaced by the phrase:
“Ohhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyy Goddddddd!!”.
She’s chipper. And more or less, she’s a good person. I mean, these kinds of people have never really crossed me, per se. They don’t steal, they don’t hit old ladies, nor do they instigate drama. The only thing I suppose they do wrong is….well…drive me f*cking nuts.
I’m not an antisocial creep. I’m not an unhappy person. In fact, I’m pretty happy go lucky! So why do these overly enthusiastic people me make want to kick and scream?
And is anyone else out there with me?

I am in agreement! I have a friend like that and she makes me feel like a big grouch just because I cannot muster up the excitement to be like that 24/7. I feel bad, but I'm just not that excited! Sheesh.

Haha that is soooo my best friend. Every single time she calls, she literally has to squeal out my name in this incredibly high pitched tone. I told her to stop once before she practically made my ears bleed,so she attempted to stop using her 'happy voice' as she called it. But that only lasted about two seconds lol

sometimes people are like this to hide their true feelings of depression.
trust me.

one of my best friends is like this 24/7 and its soo annoying. not only is she chipper and happy and ugh all the time shes a CHEERLEADER, and she acts/talks like a 5 year old. she says 'super' and uses a thousand exclaimation points after every sentence she writes online. AND shes completely straight laced, she has never had a sip of alcohol in her entire life and makes me feel bad for going out every weekend. ahh i need to see her frown….just once.

I am one of these people, and I'm here to tell you that we don't necessarily *like* being so enthusiastic ALL THE TIME – it's just an irresistible compulsion, and sometimes it annoys us too…but we can't stop it.
Sometimes we're hiding deep insecurity; sometimes we're hitting the mania part of manic depression (so catch us when we're down – we'll be very restful then), sometimes we've had too much caffeine (every day, for years); sometimes we're very, very nervous.
And sometimes we're just Really Happy…the sun is shining, the birds are singing, that new cream made our acne go away, a cute guy winked at us…life is Very Good. Why don't you see it?
CHEER UP! (you big ol’ grouch.)

I had a thing for a girl that's like this once. She's blonde, always smiling, "omg puppies!!", vegan, etc. Didn't work out so well lol

I can't help but think people doing that are fake. They are trying to get attention or they are just plain too dumb to think about responsibility ….maturity….etc.
They are perpetual children at Disney. Life is just not that exciting if you are doing the right things with it. If you are doing things right you are serious and too focused to say OMG!!!!!!!!!! MY LIFE IS AWESEOME….!!!?!!!!????!!!!!! YAY….WHOOP WHOOP…100% of the time. That just tells me that you are not doing shit that is hard work.
I mean get real and yeah it f-king annoys the crap outta me. Life is good but if you are that high what happens when the low comes crashing down?
