Spinlash? More like STUPIDlash

interactive.jpgOkay, what the hell is this?!

Seriously. I will kill it.

First of all, it’s a product that spins your mascara wand. Perhaps you didn’t hear me, it spins your mascara wand. I’m sure I will get comments here that say I’m overreacting, but, for realz–has it really come to this?

How freakin’ lazy can we get? Now we need a device to help us apply mascara?

I’m also disturbed by the little spinning wand avec product on the homepage that lets you enter the page.

Why does this exist? Why would I spend $14.95 plus shipping and handling (!) on something that I secretly fear may pull my lashes out, carnival style, like that girl who lost her scalp at Six Flags?

The creepy little video says something like, “Clumps are caused by applying traditional mascara to naturally disorderly lashes.”

Honey, if my lashes are disorderly, it’s because God made ‘em that way. I don’t need some spinning wand to make it otherwise.

The one positive thing I see about this is that you can use it with any mascara you want. I mean, that’s good. At least it’s not forcing you to buy a totally brand just so you can use it. I heart equal opportunity.

But overall and fundamentally, and let’s forget my macabre fantasy of lash death, this product just seems unnecessary.

And finally (and more importantly), does this thing even work? I don’t know. Anyone tried it?

I have not tried, nor even seen the above mentioned product, but on Makeupalley.com boards there was a buzz when this first came out as well. The ladies over there were shocked and used the same points that you have raised here, but they were quited when one of the members said that for her the product was a lifesaver, because before it was too difficult for her to actually use a regular mascara because of joint and dexterity problems. In America’s aging population it is increasingly popular to market drugs/pills/gizmos that assist those who are begging to reach their ripe old age. I guess us youngins will just have to get used to the fact that we might not be the target audience for all the products in the world.

Does it have a cap, or does it just get all gross and clumpy??? :(

Hi Sara – I work for SPINLASH and you are not alone in your initial skepticism! Many people felt the same way before they tried it. If you'd like to check it out, send me an email via the SPINLASH website http://www.spinlash.com and I'll have one sent to you. You might be surprised!

Sorry to be so negative but this product sucks and not in a good way. A simple way to spend 16.18 tax included. This is not mascara it is black liquid, the spinning of the brush does nothing for the lashes and when i rubbed my eye gently all the mascara came off, smudged and hurt my eyes.

I did a review of this on my site. It does not work how they say it will, their mascara clumps and flakes, and even with your own mascara, though it works better, still doesn't work very well.

I ended up getting it to work well by using my own mascara, wand and all, and then using a clean spinlash to go over it and remove the clumps and seperate. I really like it using it this way, but the way it is advertised, no way! Here is a link to the review if you want to see: http://www.the-giveaway.com/2009/03/spinlash-masc
My review is the last one, under "Katie"

P.S. It actually rotates slow enough to not be scary at all, so no worries there.

Maybelene and any other that nobody has heard of make no sense what-so-ever!!!! This is the 21's century guide. (IN!: covergirl, herbal essences, aussie, home-made jewelery, gold and silver (DUH!), and (OF COARSE!!!) ACCESSORIES!!!! clothes don't matter unless they are complete knockoffs.
