But I concur: see the original too, you won't be disappointed. In her defense, I think Berkeley pulls off a part which would have left most actresses crying on the curb instead of kicking ass. And in Esterhazs' defense, Basic Instinct is a masterpiece of guilty pleasures, and the sequel is, in my opinion, even better. Or so-much-worse-it's-better. Depending on how you look at it. Approach these seedy, sexy, silly movies with the desire to be entertained, and you will be. However, I also feel the need to speak out in favor of the porntastic original version. My reasoning is quite simple: any SHOWGIRLS which eliminates the pool sex scene (in which our girl Elizabeth flaps around - dramatically! - so rapidly, and with such an utter lack of coordination, that she very literally seems to be getting electrocuted, rather than boned) is not my SHOWGIRLS. Love it. However, I also feel the need to speak out in favor of the porntastic original version.
