Ok, the gays and the lesbians can get over themselves now, lead their lives the way they want, and stop being offended because the world's population wants to live it's. KY is targeting heteroes because its legal and its where their research shows they will make money, and they will do so because heteros enjoy sex tremendously since our equipment is designed for each other. Its a profit issue, not a gaty lesbian hetero girl color boy color politics psycology issue at all in any way. The board discussed how to make money and market well, not your feelings of offense.

I probably wouldn't even bother trying most of the stuff on the market today because I just prefer to stick to products that are natural. It seems a lot of things out there are filled with chemicals. I found a lubricant that has only 5 ingredients. It mimics the natural body fluid of man and woman so gay or straight ...it's for both. It's called Probe and it's on a site called www.blushingo.com

I agree, but just because it was geared toward straight couples didn't stop my boyfriend and I from going and getting some. It's just for fun. Who cares if it says one is for him and the other is for her, I would figure you can always switch them. Just because it is targeted toward straight couples doesn't mean it's limited to them. If you want to try it, buy it. I'm sure they are not going to make you prove you are in a heterosexual relationship to purchase it.

While we’re at it lets change the name brand “Just For Men.” As a woman I find its being sexist, what about me?!? And Secret’s “Strong enough for a woman” I don’t think so: “Strong enough for humans” although that might alienate the extraterrestrials… (no pun intended) people seriously GET OVER IT! Get that humbug out your ass and realize that *gasp* products have target audiences and not everyone fits into every category! (shocking I know…) Find a product that fits your needs and shut the hell up.

Nope, I'm with Lauren. I don't think they're trying to alienate anyone…I just think that it is a product aimed at hetero couples. I don't see it as a problem since every time I visit an adult novelty store with my husband there are rows and rows of girl-on-girl porn, double-dildos, and anal lubricant marketed very specifically to gay men. I mean, different groups just have different needs and want different things – there's nothing wrong with that.

Besides, think of the baby-boomer generation they're reaching with this product…while us 20 and 30-somethings consider lubricant a very normal addition to our bedrooms, many 50 and 60-somethings have long thought of lubricant along the same lines as "kinky sex toys." This advertising campaign kind of makes lube less risque in their minds, thus allowing KY to reach another demographic and sell more product.

I agree that the product is alienating to pretty much anyone who isn't in a committed, hereto sexual relationship. I couldn't really touch on all the offensive aspects of it, but you hit the nail on the head, Natalie. If you check out the website, it has a very archaic "No sex without straight love vibe."

Lauren's right about the limited experience for same sex couples. I couldn't really feel the effects of the blue, and my boyfriend couldn't feel Mine at all.

Props to Jake for giving us a great link to other lubes though!

I agree with Lauren, and do think people might be being a little too sensitive. The pink/blue colour scheme is based on gender stereotypes, but it's a playful product that I don't think people should get too hooked up on that - I'm sure thousands of people wouldn't see that as a issue at all. With the claim that it is a hetero-focused product, I don't think that's a bad thing. It's not being homophobic, there are hundreds of different types of lubes including many aimed near exclusively at gay couples. Based on her description of the product I think the sensations it creates is something that wouldn't happen with a same sex couple. I am not sure they were trying to alienate gay couples, but rather creating a product to appeal to heterosexual couples.

I think this entire product is offensive on a number of different levels. You touched on how couple-centric it is. What about the pink and blue bottles? This boy color/girl color thing is so 50s. Why is the bottle for her called "Mine". Is he supposed to be possessing you? Or is it "Mine" because it's expected for some reason that the girl will be the one to go buy the lube?

Not to mention, how does this make partnered gay and lesbian couples like me and my girlfriend feel? It's a very hetero-focused product to be sure….
