Legalizing Marijuana Completely? California is On It.
July 2, 2008 Posted in Reality

Why IS marijuana illegal? Why is it illegal when far more dangerous drugs, like alcohol and tobacco, are legal? Despite any hesitations you may have about marijuana, the research proving that it is hardly dangerous is in. And it means something.
Sure, marijuana can make you lazy and lethargic. But so can a big meal. Sure, it can make you hear, see, or feel things in a new way, but I think most of us know that alcohol does the same thing. Except alcohol tends to bring out violence in a lot of people, extreme behavior, and cigarettes cause cancer…
My point is that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that something is up with the legalization of marijuana, regardless of whether or not that rocket scientist smokes him/herself.
The state of California is catching on to the BS surrounding the case of marijuana and they have long been standing against it. Leading the way in legalizing marijuana for medicinal reasons, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that California is now trying to make marijuana legal for everyone. (Editor’s Note: Time to move out west!)
A new initiative has been constructed that could easily end up in the November ballot. This initiative will allow for the ‘drug’ to be sold to anyone at any place that sells alcohol. It’s called The Inalienable Rights Enforcement Initiative. There are pieces of it online, and you know what? I think they’re totally right here.
With all of the life-sucking drugs that are available legally, it’s hard for me to believe that we’re a progressive country when we can’t come to terms with marijuana. Anyone else with me…and California?
Tell us what you're thinking...

I agree completely. Plus, think of all the revenue the country would get from the "sin tax", plus all the non-violent "criminals" in jail for posession of marijuana. It would save millions and make millions.
Also, marijuana is great for people with eating disorders, cancer, and anxiety disorders.
Besides that, it's just a good, fun drug.
Yayyy California!

i had a lot of misconsemptions about marijuana until i tried it. It really is (in my opinion) the safest drug, and at the very least i think it should be de-criminalized. No one should go to jail for having weed.
i guess unless they are selling to minors, but still…

Why did it take a constitutional amendment to prohibit alcohol but not other drugs?

Cannabis is the only chance America has to become energy independent. It is the #1 source of bio-fuel in the world. Making a car from hemp was Henry Ford's idea not Cheech and Chong. It is said that 6% of the US land being planted in hemp could provide the energy we need. Alge farms would require 10% or more. If we told the farmers that we pay not to grow crops, to grow hemp instead, we could have almost free energy in a couple of years.

undoubtedly so, however, I'm not so convinced that we have the bulk numbers for the movement to be pushed to legalization. At least not anytime soon.

anyone else think that girl in the picture is hot? And yes…Marijuana… the reefers would make a nice cash crop(Hemp). But there is that big problem with America trying to be the big man… would never admit to his wrongs. He realizes that hemp at least is alright… but what about the moral question? IS THE REEFERS ok? No… america will enforce the CDS bullshit… and that includes all families and forms of Cannabis.(a.K.a. Hemp)

There's absolutely no other piece of news I've learned today that has made me happy. Wow, I just can't wait until it is actually legalized, and our country gets out of debt with such a step forward in actions. Truthfully, I could choose to smoke it every day, as it enhances my everygrowing knowledge of life as we know it. Patience is a virtue. However, it's been quite long enough and my estimation is not in the next 5 years, but this year would be nice.

P.S. Smokes'n'Jokes would be a vary nice establishment, a comedy club where performers of all sorts, gather and you just get to lay back and relax with some weed, if prefered. I mean, tons of comedy revolve around, sometimes birthed from, the good herb. It's everyone's decision, of course, but no one should be holding anyone back for such a harmless subject.

The government would benefit so much from the tax on cannabis. To bad the "people" is not the same as "the government" anymore. http://www.thecannabischef.com
