i love hard core death metal type music (korn, rammstein, machine head, rob zombie, marilyn manson etc) and driving in a way that makes my friends cry. So people are usually pretty surprised when they see that the person stepping out of the death-on-wheels playing obscenely loud music is a tall slender girl wearing and off the shoulder ralph lauren sweater and jeans with heels lol. def gotten a few looks from that one. i also lack the whole "aww look at the baby" impulse. just dont get it. i mean, there all wrinkly and blobby and they cant even talk.

Jean Kilbourne once said that if you only embrace yourself as entirely masculine or entirely feminine, you are only half of your potential. I think this is what this article is trying to say, and I wholeheartedly agree.

I love this post! i have a healthy balance of both. I can be dainty and be unladylike with my swearing and belching etc…I love being crude and shocking people because I am a petite girl with perfectly painted nails but there are chips of it here and there.

Oh boy. I am definitely one of those girls who gets along better with boys. And me and my two best friends are definitely "tomboy-ish".

We drink beer and play beer pong with the best of the guys.

We burp. We like to eat. We prefer to dress down in sweats and hair pulled back.

I don't like chick flicks (most of the time anyway).

I suck about shaving my legs and even armpits (except this time of year when they are exposed for all to see…)

My friends and I (both male and female) have "beer and fried chicken nights". It's the sweetest thing ever.

I like roughing it. Don't mind mud, don't mind getting wet. Was at a camping thing recently, big thing, tons of people. It started pouring, so me and my best friend got in the car with some guys. Every other girl their decided to leave. When it stopped raining and we emerged all the guys were like "there are still girls here? they are pretty hardcore!" we just laughed, whatever, we didn't want to miss out on the fun!!!

All in all though, I'm still pretty girly. I like flowers and pink and I generally enjoy girlie things. But there are a lot of things I also don't enjoy and could do away with in my own personal universe.

Boys generally appriecate this laid back attitude. We are very, very drama free. Don't mind sitting around drinking beer, watching them play video games or whatever.

I'm still working on my uncontrollable urge to 'be nice', but sometimes my girlfriends confuse the hell out of me with their emotional outbursts, illogical friend-rules, two-hour bathroom sessions and endless chick flicks.

But I still shave every day (or it itches), cook and clean, refuse to pee in front of my husband, and love bright colors and flowers and home decorating.

I just always thought I was an unusually doormattish normal person, and my friends were all crazy. Apparently I'm the crazy one. Or maybe I was just a man in my last life. Who knows?

I actually like the taste of beer.

I watch the occasional porn preview video online.

I am not afraid to burp (or fart) in front of my boyfriend.

I am competitive about stupid things.

I'm terrible at communicating my feelings.

Sometimes I don't shave my legs for weeks. (Is that masculine, or just anti-feminine?

And yet, I still feel pretty damn girly.

I agree with you Sarah, I love belching.

My now college friends find it pretty gross, but in high school none of my friends found it rude or foux paus.

Whatevs.
