Emily David Will (And Should) Put A Boot Up Miley Cyrus’ Ass

talent.jpgMeet Emily David, aka Queen Emily. She’s a 40-year-old single mom, a snappy dresser, and the only talented person on Tuesday night’s episode of America’s Got Talent.

I haven’t heard such a great rendition of Chain of Fools since Turkey Sub from School of Rock. It was proud, soulful, sassy, and confident. It was the voice of a woman who’d worked hard, walked through hell and lived to tell about it.

In her interview, Emily said, “So many times I think it will never happen for me…but then I go and look in the mirror and say ‘Why not me?’”

Why not you Emily? Why shouldn’t you take this show (and this country) by the shoulders and shake us out of a crappy music slump?

We’ve put up with pop starlets too long. Even those with good voices haven’t had the life experience to make their songs really sing. We’ve confused drunk driving, pantie dropping and stage parents with celebrity and even worse…with talent. And what do we have to show for it? Why should we wait for Disney to tell us who the next pop idol/future pariah is when hard-working, truly gifted people people like Emily are right in front of us?

So enough is enough. It’s a shame it took a kind-of-crappy reality show for me to discover this, but it was worth it. Emily David can and should take home the crown on America’s Got Talent. If she doesn’t, can we at least not give it to the Britney Spears guy?

You can see Queen Emily in all her glory for yourself:

I so agree with you, as soon as I heard her open her mouth, the goosebumps started (and everytime I listen too) I said this is the winner. If America isn’t smart enough to see and hear and vote for this wonderful lady they they are fools. I will not be one of the fools.

Amen! Couldn’t agree more with both your comments. It’s time for talented persons like Emily to be heard and as she put it “to get out there” and put music back into the “music industry!”

Great voice, great presence, great talent! You go get ‘em Queen Emily! Surely somebody’s got sense enough to recognize how much we’ve missed for far too long!

    YOU GO QUEEN EMILY:

Sing it—stand proud, and show America what you have to offer. Come out on the stage confident and proud….this is your time to shine.

I think you have it to win. I never watched the show until I saw your Chain of Fools video online.

    Bring it!

One Month Challenge: Fun with Fitness, Week 2

At some point this week, exercise stopped being something I had to do and started being something I wanted to do. I’m honestly not sure what changed. Maybe it was the physical pain and exhaustion I felt after Irish dancing at a pre-St. Patrick’s Day event last weekend. And then watching all my old friends performing on St. Patrick’s Day, so full of energy, making it all look so easy.
