I’m wondering what the difference is between this and carrying around mace? It seems just another form of self-protection. And I don’t see how it reduces the value of females in society? Maybe because I’m a guy, I’m missing something, but it seems like if someone lives somewhere dangerous, having mace is the same idea, of preventing an attack, and given mace is expected, this could be another deterrent/safety. The idea of rape disgusts me, especially to someone I love, and if they were able to protect themselves somehow, I don’t know why having something like this objectifies women, or somehow turns it into “she was asking for it” ideas.

And as far as Tu’s comment about “dont put yourself in a situation where you can get raped” what a ridiculous statement. Unbelievably ignorant.

The idea of a woman forgetting it is there concerns me also. There is a question on the FAQ for the website that addresses this very thing. “Won’t I forget the device is in?

You could, but the empty applicator should remind you!” This is the thing that concerns me. I don’t think that checking the applicator would be one of the first thoughts that would go through a woman’s head. What if a woman goes home with a guy and the applicator is at her house?

I honestly don’t know what I think about this device. I can see the benefits of it, however, I can also see a lot of “mistakes” coming from it too.

When you put something, let alone something large enough to be able to accommodate a penis, into your vagina you don’t just ‘forget’ it is up there.

I love how this product gets shot down for being something that a rapist can ‘figure out’. It makes me angryfor you to be hedging your bets on serial rapists to take women out and make them become objects again. I’m no feminist but I think it is interesting that a bunch of guys have jumped on that particular opinion train of, ‘Well, this thing will never work because it won’t’

A guy isn’t going to beat his victim if this thing is stuck in him. He might hit or swipe but can you imagine from going from absolute arousal (which is the state someone is in when they’re going to rape someone) to absolute pain at the very point you’re supposed to be receiving your gratification from? Woah.

I think this invention, for the reason it was invented (an attack on rape attacks) and for the purpose it can serve (letting a woman know she has some kind control if other options run out) is wonderful.
