oh and one more thing, Caroline, I never critsized Obama I critisized the fact that the media glorifies him without even stating his stances, so to people who don't do the research (and I'm not talking about me) they don't understand why he's being glorified, especially when McCain's stances are stated loud and clear. So it's not that people aren't paying attention it's that his stances aren't mainstreamed.

Ok you must have missed my point. Of course you can go LOOK and find out what Obamas stances are, that wasn't my point, my point was that they aren't MAINSTREAMED (like I said, you people need to read!) like McCain's are. The general population doesn't research and frankly doesn't care. So they are basing their votes on what they see without actually looking (TV news, and the media) If all the media is saying about Obama is that he's "the second coming" and "Gods gift to the world" Well that can either go one of two ways, people will vote for him because he's popular or people won't vote for him because they have no idea what he's about.

Obviously you can do research, but lets be honest, Americans are lazy, they're not going to research shit. So why don't the news stations play fair and publicize both candidates opinions and stop hyping Obama up as a "god", that's completely irrelevant to the election.

And it's ignorant to try and get uninformed people to vote. I don't want someone who has no idea who either candidate are or what they stand for voting for my future president. For all they know they could be voting for Satin, just because they were told to "Make sure you go vote!" That's part of this counties problem, Ignorance.

And sarcasm has nothing to do with it. She was trying to say the article wasn't biased when clearly it was. That was my problem.

bitch fest 08.

the only comment this bitchy one has is, if people don't want to vote, then don't encourage them. if people don't care, they're probably not informed, and why the hell does this country want more uninformed morons voting?

huffington post offers better liberal coverage and washington times editorial offers better conservative coverage than this site. take it for what it is, people: college candy, not "site for informing the youth about important issues". [that's for you, j-nyu]. :D

You people that complain about not knowing Obama's stance, you're on the internet, how about use it constructively! For that matter, I doubt you know anything about Mccain's stance either genius except that he isn't loved by celebs

I do understand the message of the article, and I agree!

Young people, go vote!

The issue that I have is Casey's apparent attack because of her lack of appreciation for Lauren's sarcasm. Because it became political, I jumped in!

Amanda,

I fully understand that it is possible to disagree with Obama, I do on some points!

However I'm confused, because it seems you don't like him because some of the people who plan on voting for him don't understand his message? Or because the media pays attention to him? I don't dislike McCain because some people who will vote for him don't understand his plans for the White House. Heck, I don't even dislike him! I just want to see Obama in office. As for the media's relationship with McCain, he's been the Republican media darling for the past few primary seasons. He has an excellent relationship with the media.

Gosh. *Some* people don't know what saracasm is...

Apparently some readers here don't get your great sense of humor Lauren! :D

haha.

To others:

It does not matter *who* gets the vote, what is important is that (to each their own) each person *actually* votes.

Cripes, people actually fought for our right to vote! Come on really, if you don't vote those people fought in vain just because you are too lazy to think for *yourself* and use your *own* personal opinions to choose who *you* think would be the best candidate.

Anyhoo, I think the point of this article is to get people to realize that Everyone should vote because we are lucky enough to have the luxury of being a Democracy.

I think that, yes, Fox is conservative, and I also agree that other stations are liberally biased, like CNN. However, I find that Fox's "attacks" on liberal ideas/politicians are often not intelligent, like when they altered photos of NY Times writers. "The journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated..." (Media Matters, http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002)

Caroline,

What I was trying to say wasn't that Obama's website, etc. didn't have his stances or his ideas. I was trying to make the point that when he's interviewed or gives speeches he barely touches the surface. He is praised so much that he almost doesn't have to.

And when someone disagrees with Obama it doesn't mean they've been watching Fox News. It IS possible for people to disagree with Obama. I don't care if people don't agree with John McCain...they're entitled to their opinions. But I'm allowed to disagree with Obama and not like him either. I know people that I went to college with that were voting for Obama because he was for "change" and when I asked them what he was going to change..I got blank stares. I'm not lumping Obama supporters into that category but there are plenty of people who think that way.

Yikes!

One slightly negative comment about a conservative news bias and... sheesh. Chill.

Amanda and Casey, if you don't know about Obama's actual stances, frankly, it's because you just haven't been paying attention. His stances are very clear, he doesn't "just put down McCain" (someone's been watching Fox news...), he has very specific plans. All you would need to do is check out the New York Times website, any other reliable news source, and/or *gasp* go to Obama's website, where his stances are VERY clearly stated.

Want to know something else? I know what McCain's stances are, because I've gone to his website, read and listened to his speeches, and I disagree with him on some key issues.

So before you start criticizing Obama, do your homework and back up your statements.
