I had a benign tumor removed from my chest not long ago... it was so scary to think about, but when you are actually under anesthesia (which was a scary thought for me, too!), everything is fine, and my recovery was very smooth. I'm sure you will be taken care of very well! I freaked myself out several times, but I was checked in early and I listened to my iPod and kind of meditated myself into a calmer state... it really helps!

I'm currently recovering from having all my wisdom teeth removed because they were growing sideways. (Um..ouch!) I'm recovering right now, and the biggest shock ever was how much of a blur the surgery was. I didn't even realize that I was being put to sleep! I got the IV in which stung but didn't hurt very much, which is good cause I HATE needles, and then the doctor was saying something and all of a sudden there were my parents! I feel like I never even had anything done. It was a lot easier than I expected.

I feel your pain! i just had 2 wisdom teeth out the beginning of the week, and although it's not really too serious of a procedure, the information sheets with all the side effect (permanent loss of taste, dry socket, DEATH!) made me really freaked out. The only advice I can give is to just go into it with a positive attitude and look at the bright side. With all the medicine they give you, you'll be able to lay around and sleep and have people take care of you for a while. Hope that helps and good luck!
