I will say that it depends on the guys you're living with. My soph year I lived with 3 guys and 2 girls….one of those guys being my ex boyfriend (we signed the lease when we were still dating). It wasn't the best of times, but I learned some lessons. For example: I will not sign a lease with a guy again…unless we're engaged. and also, nobody likes a marauder (don't do your roomies dishes or clean up after them and THEN complain about it.

I'm glad this classy chick had a great experience.

I recently moved out of a roommate situation with a guy (platonic friend) and back into an apt with 2 girlfriends, and the dynamic is so different.

In the drawback category, I'd say that living with my guy friend frustrated me because he rarely understood my emotions, nor did he make much of an effort because I wasn't his girlfriend. I'm nowhere near an emotional basketcase, but if I had a quarter for every time I heard, "I don't understand why you are upset", I would be rich! Granted, that's definitely part of the personality of this particular guy, so your mileage may vary. But it's nice to be back with girls again.
