    My family has to put up my brother's medical school expenses and my upcoming 4 years of college (plus potentially grad school, although that doesn't look like a good idea right now).

    We are so fecked.

    Dude, it's a recession, not a depression.

    There's a difference. Yes, one sometimes leads to another, but not always. Keep your money in savings (if it's FDIC ensured,) and keep buying things. Consumer confidence is half the battle.
