Set Your DVRs – Grey’s Anatomy and The Office Are Back!

Not gonna lie: Thursday nights have really sucked since our two favorite shows left us at the beginning of the summer. Whereas we used to spend our Thursday evenings watching TV with great friends and great snacks (Oreo Cakesters….mmmmmm), we have been forced to [sigh] do things all summer long. Like read books and workout.
Thank God TV has returned. And not just one show, but all our shows…in a single week!
Tonight The Office and Grey’s Anatomy (2 hours!) are coming back and we can’t wait. If only we could remember what the hell happened the last time we watched either show. We figured you were having the same issue too, so we hopped on Google and found all the info you need to get right back into the drama and hilarity of your Thursday night lineup.
Where We Left Off On Grey’s Anatomy:
Meredith: After numerous failed trials at shrinking brain tumors – filled with plenty of sexual tension between her and Derek – Meredith finally puts herself out there and makes a grand gesture towards him. In the form of candles and blueprints. She also has a major breakthrough with her shrink and realizes that she has some major issues to work out stemming from her overbearing and mean mommy.
Derek: Obvi, he loves Meredith and breaks things off with Rose, the pretty nurse he was basically using to make Meredith jealous (even hot docs play mind games!).
Lexie and George: MAKEOUT!
Alex: Busy taking care of Rebecca who has had a major psychotic breakdown. He doesn’t want to admit there is a problem and totally bitches out Izzie, who is only trying to help. He eventually realizes there is a problem and attempts to escape it by sleeping with Izzie for one night. Which always works.
Callie/McSteamy/Erica: There is some serious lesbian love going on here. McSteamy encourages it in hopes he can get a hot threesome going on, but he ends up on his own when Callie kisses Erica outside the hospital. Rar.
Miranda: Realizes she is losing her family and gives all clinic responsibility to Izzie (probably the only person who would want it).
I know very little about what to expect this season, but I know these things for sure:
1. Izzie is going to be really, really annoying
2. There is gonna be some serious girl on girl
3. Meredith and Derek are gonna break up again
4. I am going to hate 90% of the episodes…but I’m gonna keep on watching anyway.
Where We Left Off On The Office:
After trying to sit through both Fringe and Knight Rider (note: I could not), I can’t explain to you how happy I am that The Office is back on tonight at 8 PM. Even though they’re on their 5th season, the kids on The Office always succeed in either A) making me laugh out loud or B) forcing me to look away from the TV in uncomfortable nervousness.
When we left everyone at the season finale, Toby was leaving the office in a blaze of glory, replaced by possible Michael love-interest Holly (who seems awesome). At Toby’s going away bash, instead of Jim proposing to Pam, Andy proposed to Angela – which was weird to everyone – and Pam was left with an unsettling feeling regarding Jim’s commitment on the heels of her three-month acceptance to the Pratt School of Design.
To add to the dramz, Michael found out that Jan was pregnant, but that he wasn’t the father, diluting any romance possibilities with Holly with sad feelings and the need to be the man in Jan’s life. And, oh yeah – Dwight and Angela are caught making out twenty seconds before the episode ended.
You KNOW I will be watching tonight, complete with a bag of popcorn, glass of wine, and so. many. expectations.

Goodness! Thank you for the recap! It kills me that both these shows are on at the same time. Thank goodness for DVRs! I'm most excited for season 5 of the Office. I need to see Jim and Pam end up together even more than I need to see Derek and Meredith end up together. And don't even get me started on the Andy/Angela/Dwight triangle. And Michael and Jan/Holly? OY! This season should be pretty impressive and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm also really looking forward to the commercials. No, seriously! Remember that Tide talking stain commercial that first aired during the Super Bowl? So funny. Well, I work at Tide and we had a contest earlier in the year to see who could best spoof the ad. We had some great entries! The finalists can be seen here: http://www.tidetogo.com/ads and the WINNER can be seen during the season premiere of The Office TONIGHT. Should be great!
Thanks for letting me comment on your blog! If you have any questions, feel free to email me! I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks!
