You get plenty of protein from nuts and sprouted beans and grains. Lots of calcium is found in leafy green vegetables and carbohydrates are in everything. Basically, your cousin probably failed to balance her diet and that's why she lost her period. Most people don't even eat 100% raw. I don't. I cook beans sometimes.

Basically, when you go raw, you eat A LOT. And so long as you consume enough calories, you will not experience a protein nor carbohydrate deficiency.

Anyway, it's healthier than eating meat and dairy, all of which are loaded with saturated fat and preservatives. The only thing I recommend is taking a vitamin B12 supplement. This diet has changed my life!

There is noway you can get all the nutrients or calories you nedd from just eating raw food. No freaking way. Where would you get, you know, calcium, proteins, carbs (they are not the devil, you know, they are energy), and everything else? Some of these are in some fruits and vegetables, but no way in the doses a normal person need. My cousin tried this and she didn't menstruate for a year. The doctor told her it was because her body wasn't getting enough energy and was cutting of the functions. How is that healthy?

RAW FOOD IS AMAZING.
I am in university and trying it.
I definitely don't need as much sleep as my friends (Average 5 hours), and I have so much energy during the day. It's the best choice I've done.
Motivate yourself with all the benefits you get, the gorgeous food you eat, and the ease in which you can make something. Read about my journey!

The raw food diet rocks! Yoy feel fucking high on drugs when you are on a raw food diet, euphoric, really confident, peaceful, strong! Seriously its like being on drugs, but its really good for you - you never get sick, you never get fat, you never get tired - you have like so much energy - seriously you only need to sleep about 4hrs per night! You just feel amazing and your skin is so glowy and beutiful!

Just like at Alicia Silverstone and Carol Alt, Sting, Demi Moore, they have been/ are raw fooders!

People reverse cancer on this diet and all kinds of illness!

IT ROCKS! Go research it and try it, don't just take my word for it, you will see ;)!

You're forgetting that heating and processing food kills the enzymes that are already in them. All foods have their own specific enzyme that allows your body to break it down; thus, the more processed the food is or the more cooked, the harder it is for our bodies to digest and the more 'extra weight' we end up carrying (always on the most inconvenient of places).

I really could go on forever (you can learn so much from working at an organic foodstore :D), but instead I recommend checking out a book called "The Raw Food Detox" by Natalia Rose. Borrow it out from a library if you can and have a flick through it, there's some really good advice in there about balancing an average 'modern' diet with a raw food diet.

Alex- when you have hypothyroidism (which that chick did), losing half your body fat is an INSANE feat. Believe me, it's much more difficult than trying to get see some abs on someone with a normal BMI (seriously, eat well, exercise and repeat. If hardcore, bulk and cut.) My mother's been struggling with hypothyroidism for a while, and while many people do use the condition as the modern equivalent of 'big-boned', for those who actually have it, it's no joke.

Raw food is a post-modern diet fad. It works like any other diet works or does not. She could have eaten chicken breasts as well if she'd have liked and would have seen similar results.

Also, losing half your body fat at 300lbs is not the same as trying to see abdominal when your a normal weight, etc etc.
