I'm surrounded by people I don't know, so I feel alone. Everyone's in the groups they came in from high school, so it's not easy to join one. Though in response to the noise from outside, I've started wearing headphones as often as i can, just to hear some noise I actually like. The goal is to find somewhere uncommon. For example, I studied in the stacks...you know between all the books where they stick single desks, OR my library is really old andd all the periodicals are in one dark but warm room that has limited seating. I still go there and get my best work done. You will feel really refreshed once you find your own place. The library became my best friend after feeling this exact way. Hated it. I'm an only child, and I need a little time to myself now and then, but that never seemed able to happen, especially since my roommate really preferred togetherness. But really, sometimes I like to be alone. It doesn't mean I'm sad or upset or depressed. I just need to be <i>alone</i> and relax, and while I'm used to the constant social interaction now, I still have days, or weeks, where I just like to go about my business without people. And after awhile, you'll start singing again, regardless of who can hear you. I hated not having self-time my freshman year. Hated it. But really, sometimes I like to be alone. It doesn’t mean I’m sad or upset or depressed. I just need to be alone and relax, and while I’m used to the constant social interaction now, I still have days, or weeks, where I just like to go about my business without people.

And after awhile, you’ll start singing again, regardless of who can hear you.
