All gains in the stock market since 1995 have been erased. It’s not funny anymore, & I never really thought it was..

But now …it’s spreading, countries all around the world are going bankrupt.

So much for the got damn bailout but I, for one, am freaking out.

stephanie, that is categorically untrue. stick to your cookie dough and cosmos and leave the economy to people who are… smarter than a brick.

the economy bites hard. but the market IS cyclical, it will come back, it’s just a question of when. until it does, leave your investments where they are, hope to everything that is holy that student loans will be available next semester and next year [legitimate concern], and maybe put a bit into savings in case you get fired/laid off [since unemployment is through the roof].

    wanna hear a joke?

Calling me dumber than a brick does not make anything I said incorrect. Look it up, before you start making idiotic statements.

I’m not all too interested in student loans, I’ve got a binding scholarship & I work on campus, and we almost never need to fire anyone. Investments on the other hand…

I think the whole thing is a great laugh. Soon we’ll be at that stage where companies are valued on their actual assets!

Look on the bright side, people: gas prices are COMING DOWN!

Yes, that is only a small positive in a sea of awful news, but it’s something!

    Stephanie,

I’m going to second the motion about a brick being slightly more intelligent than you. “Investments on the other hand . . . ,” you’re a college student, I suspect you don’t have a very dynamic portfolio at this point in your life. With that said, it is a fantastic time to BUY stocks. Great companies are trading at big discounts. If you have the cash to buy even a few shares of an S&P 500 Index mutual fund you’ll look back in 10 years and say “wow, I got a great deal.”
