The reason people are using this drug is because they are giving themselves extremely high expectations of success and wondering why they can't study. THe human body can only do so much. If you set your schedule to work full-time, go to school full time and some people even mentioned having a child, then OF COURSE you will not be able to study. This doesn't mean you have ADD, it means you are a human being. So, what happens? You realize it's too much to do and start taking speed to get everything done.

This is basically what happens. Adderal is like cocaine and if you take enough it reacts the same way in your brain giving you a huge dopamine boost.

Adderall is a drug. Along with caffeine. Along with adrenaline. Cold medicine. Alcohol. Etc. Society has always placed whether something is right or wrong based on whether ot is lawful. We produce adrenaline in our body and it has the effects of a drug. Caffeine as well as alcohol. Theyre legal which makes us think…”good”…illegal is “bad”. If a drug is bad its bc of the risk there is in dependency and negative side effects it causes, or its bad simply bc it cannot be tracked and thus taxed. The government gave up on making alcohol illegal since it produced waytoo much of an economical benefit and thus as a whole the majority of society associates it as an okay drug as long as its within lawful constraints. We base our ethics based off what the law says and clearly define “right” and “wrong” based off of that. Life and ethics is much more complex than that and all factors should be taken into account. Those of you with caustic biting remarks, youre ignorance is dissapointing. For those of you that think i am advocating illegal drug use and all other actions which may not be the best decisions, i am not. I am merely advocating rationality and use of the frontal lobe which we have been blessed with. Weigh the options and you decide whether something is “bad” or “good”, dont expect for society to do it for you. Mob mentality and nazi germany are not such conversely related things.

Anyways someone who doesnt need adderall is under the influence of it will have the opposite effects. So technically if you have good effects then perhaps you have it to some degree. So all of you get over yourselves whos to say the ritalin add kids even need it so bad anyways? Add and adhd must be some crazy mutated random diseases of this generatiom bc i dont remember it being as widespread in the old days…

Adderall only helps you channel your focus thus if youre secretely a genius but your attention span was masking that, then you will be a genius. It only helps clarify your thoughts, you can merely apply the knowledge youve learned or will only learn as much as your intelligence enables you to under its influence. You dont turn into Stephen Hawking overnight.

im only 15, and i took concerta. i tried adderal and that shit works. But everything you say is all wrong. i been thinking. and what happens when you cant get the drug. i been trying to figure it out. And i want to be smart without it. damn, im not even prescribed, i think about throwing it away, and learning how to concentrate and focus on my own. think about it, all you have to do is learn and listen. without being prescribed, your actually making yourself feel dumb.

Casey, your steroid analogy, while interesting, isn't really accurate. Athletes compete in a zero-sum game. Academics do not. If you use adderall as a "performance enhancing drug" and you earn an "A", you're not taking an "A" away from the guy next to you.

Isn't that how any disorder is? do you not believe in disorders? they are just simple outliers to you i guess… "theyre not blind, they just cant see as well.". "they dont have ADHD, they just have a frontal lobe that isnt as developed as the rest of society." hmm very intriguing indeed. well i take adderall to calm down and focus. it does motivate me and makes me feel great. sure other people could take it. they would most likely have insomnia. and on a regular basis become more hyperactive and impulsive. i dont think that would be an advantage. really in the long run adderall or any other stimulant makes ADHD more manageable while for non ADHD it can turn them somewhat more ADHD. if it really worked to the point where everyone would take them, benefit and not abuse, than it would already be like that.
