Levi Johnston wants to set the record straight, alright?
Apparently sick and tired with what the media is doing to his image — crafting him into a stupid redneck who accidentally got Sarah Palin’s daughter preggo — Johnston decided to talk to the Associated Press about everything from his love of Bristol to what he really thinks of Barack.
“We both love each other,” Johnston told the AP about Bristol. “We both want to marry each other. And that’s what we are going to do.” When it comes to his new baby (due in December), Johnston seems just as equally “excited.”
“I’m looking forward to having [the baby], I’m going to take him hunting and fishing. He’ll be everywhere with me.”
As for that Myspace page that claimed Johnston was a proud redneck and didn’t want kids? Turns out his friends made it a year ago as a joke and he had nothing to do with it — I mean, so he says.
The author of the AP article writes that Levi is a “soft-spoken” scruffy hottie who’s also an “avid hunter” — he’s got animal skulls littering his Alaskan home. After learning that his gf was pregnant, Levi dropped out of high school and now works in the oil fields as an apprentice technician, doing all he can to make the dolla dolla bills for his new family.
As for being thrust into the spotlight so suddenly? Johnston claims nonchalance. “At first, I was nervous, then I was like, ‘Whatever’.”
Even though everyone is all Levi Johnston you’re so famous now!, the 18-year-old is totes taking his new life in stride. “I’m still the same old boy. I’m just a workin’ man.”
Obviously, Johnston wants Sarah Palin and McCain to win this election (esp if he values his life and future), but unlike a lot of McCain/Palin supporters, he’s not rabidly against Obama. “[Barack] seems like a good guy. I like him.”

Why is being a “redneck” and hunting and fishing such a bad thing?
I understand that many people believe in animal rights and that’s cool, good for them. But if someone ELSE enjoys the sport and does it within the law… why would we look down upon them? Especially since, in America, we have a variety of opinions on just about anything and everything.
And my first question – an honest (not purely rhetorical) question. I really wanna know, cause I grew up in a small town that many would consider “redneck” – I’m curious.

A redneck, by definition, is uneducated and bigoted, which I think anyone can say are inherently less than desirable traits. So people find it offensive when others use the term with pride. But obviously, just because you’re from a small-town or enjoy hunting/fishing/the country doesn’t make you uneducated and bigoted. It’s semantics but it makes a difference.

Am I the only one who is completely saddened by the fact her dropped out of high school to work in oil field as an apprentice technician? I absolutely cannot support a candidate who supports high school drop outs.

Mollie, yeah, it is sad that he dropped out of high school, but maybe school wasn’t for him. I don’t see how what he does says anything about sarah palin.

If he stayed in school, people would give him shit about not supporting his child. When it comes to Sarah Palin and those around here, people on this website always see the negative.
I think we should be focusing on the election and people’s policies rather than Sarah Palin’s preganant daughter. Like she doesn’t have enough on her plate already?

Mollie, I am also concerned that this kid thinks that not having an education would be helpful to his future child. But I guess his intelligence, or lack of, was proven when he got Sarah Palin’s daughter pregnant. We’ve got a winner here.
