Too Fat for Wonderbra? Go Stuff Yourself!

Gorgeous underwear model Katie Green is taking her curves and laughing all the way to the top.  A modeling sensation in the UK, 21-year-old Katie made headlines earlier this month when Wonderbra used the 5’10, size 10 stunner for their “real women” campaign and then shamelessly blasted her for being too fat. She’ll now debut as the new face and body of lingerie firm, Ultimo.

“I really didn’t know where my career was going to go after the depression of being told I was too fat,” she said after Wonderbra execs asked her to lose upwards of 30 pounds. “They got great publicity out of launching me as a ‘real’ curvy model. Then I was told that I had to lose lots of weight and become like all the other girls on the catwalk or I was finished. What a joke.”

Devastated by the demand, she quit the firm, telling friends she refused to sacrifice her health to look like a “bag of bones.”

“Katie’s figure is beautiful,” Ultimo boss Michelle Mone said. “I was appalled to hear that she was told she was too fat to model lingerie. She has an incredible shape and represents real women throughout the UK. She looks so sexy in our latest designs.”

WTF, Wonderbra? Since when is a size 10 “too fat”?! Does this woman look like someone who needs to lose 30 pounds?

    She’s not fat at all, for goodness’ sake! She actually looks really slim in the first picture.

    A UK size 10 is about a US 8, sometimes a bit less, by the way.

    The average UK woman is a UK 14, shouldn’t they have got a size 14 woman to model it if they were looking for a ‘real woman’? Everyone aspires to be a 10 here really, so it’s not really represent of the ‘real woman’. I know that didn’t make sense, but I get what I mean…her shape/size is the ASPIRATION, not the REALITY.

    God, imagine what she’d look like if she lost 30lbs…pretty hideous, actually. And her breasts would be all but gone, she’d NEED a Wonderbra…

    Why would anyone tell her to lose weight? She’s obviously at a healthy and slim weight. Not a bulge in sight!

    She looks amazing. I wish I looked like that. I don’t know why we’re led to believe by the media that this is unhealthy and having bones protruding out of us is sexy.

    I think she looks great too. I think thin people sometimes take articles like these as saying they’re “too skinny” but there is a HUGE difference between being naturally thin, and the model thin we’re talking about. People who are naturally thin usually aren’t bony and anorexic looking, they’re just slender. No matter what you look like, I think the media needs to stop making people feel bad about the way they look either way.

    I think she looks fantastic. It’s actually refreshing to see a healthy looking model. I can’t imagine how hideous she’d look 30 pounds thinner.

    oh wait, no I get it. A US size ten. (duh!) That’s a size fourteen (uk), and so that’s normal. actually, she’s probably even on the skinny side given her height.

    And yeah, she’s hot. lol

    Models like her, with a /real/ body, are so refreshing to see. I wish we had pictures of her plastered across our magazines and billboards instead skeletons like Kate Moss and the 90210 girls.

    No N, she’s a UK size ten, not a US size 10. I mean, she only weighs 10st 5lbs (the linked article states that); that’s only 145lbs, fairly slim for someone who is 5′10”!

    Stuff like this makes me wanna break something. This girl doesn’t need to lose an ounce! I’ve more than had my fill of anorexic models, forced to starve to keep their jobs. Does anyone else think there should be a law against it?

    Personally, i think girls built like sticks with a cup boobs look sickly, not cute or hot. I see tons of them on campus and can’t see how they don’t dehydrate and die walking in the heat.

    It’s good to know this woman quit with the mindset that she did not want to lose the weight.

    and if all models looked like that healthy sized people would feel better about themselves. she’s not stick thin- you can see her curves and she doesn’t have stickly thighs which all the normal models have and have made me so thats all i want. seeing her is refreshing.

    No way, she’s gorgeous!
    The only reason they’ve called her fat is because the whole modeling business has standard.’Size 5 or less’.
    The fact is, some people can not reach a size 5 or less. There are people who are a size 14 american and have flat abs and toned legs and arms. They don’t allow for that though, body type and individuality has nothing to do with it for them. It makes me angry that they would dare call her fat. She’s a goddess in herself, she’s healthy and she genuinely looks happy. Go her!
