WTF ‘True Blood’?!
October 13, 2008 Posted in Buzz

Did anyone else want to throw their remote control at the TV while watching True Blood last night?!
I’m usually not the biggest fan of vampire fiction, but because Anna Paquin is adorable and because Alan Ball is usually awesome, I’ve been watching this HBO series since it began. But you know what? Unless the writing takes a drastic turn towards good, I’m about to stop caring about every. single. character.
Did you watch episode 6? Do you have any idea why Sookie put that stupid white dress on at the end and basically allowed the show to degenerate into every campy vampire movie ever? Also, why does Tara get the worst (read: most annoying) dialogue out of everyone, and is Sam a waredog or what?!
Tell us what you're thinking...

Hahaha I know it, but I love this series. I think the director was trying to tie in the symbolism of Sookie being a virgin and losing it to Bill by the white dress/nightgown thing. In the first couple episodes though I think it shows the dog coming up to Sam when he's talking to Sookie and he said it was a stray but it always came around or something so I don't think Sam is a waredog or anything lol. And yes Tara's character does kind of get the crappy end of the stick but I guess the writers make her that way because shes African American in a small southern town as well as resentful of her upbringing so it makes sense to me that they wrote her that way but shes not even a main character in the books, apparently she doesn't even make a cameo in the books until book 2 or 3. I just love the chemistry between Bill and Sookie and apparently the actors are dating off screen as well.

I think the white dress thing was a little much. Like, why would she own something like that?? For the day when a vampire de-virginizes her?
Also, since she's bitten now, does that mean she's a vampire?? I'm so confused.
The problem with this series is that the writers are being way. too. LITERAL. They could do with some subtly.

Agreed. Did anyone catch the line from bald tatooed vamp man when Sookie first visits bill's house? "The only thing better than virgin blood is baby blood mwahaha".
I did like that nightgown though.
My boyfriend's theory is that the dog is Erik, the viking vamp/ owner of Fangtasia (I date him for his looks). My theory is that puppydog might be Bill's family's and he turned it vampire so it could be with him forever.

You guys need to read the books… there's a difference between a weredog and a, wait for it… shape shifter.
