He Said/She Said: Planning Ahead in Relationships
October 22, 2008 Posted in Relationships

It is no secret that it doesn’t take much to freak out a guy in a relationship. I once dated a guy who would ask me to come over and hang out, but then go nuts and say we were spending too much time together. What?
Anyways, in efforts not to be crazy or overbearing or, “let’s start saving for our grandchildren,” I (and I am sure many girls like me) tend to hold back. I am very cautious about getting too serious too fast and scaring the boy away. I know not to introduce him to my entire extended family after our first date. I know not to get his name tattooed on my ring finger after our first sex sesh. Those things are obvious.
But what about making plans for the near future? Is that too much? Let’s ask the boys….

what if the tables are turned? what if the guy is doing all the planning… for february! its still october! i think its ok to be a little freaked out.. the guy i'm seeing is a super planner and he invited me on ski trip right after we started dating… he's older though so i think its something that comes with age and maturity. so if you can both handle it, plan away! i'm working on upping my maturity level so the cabin trip we have planned in december can run smoothly.

The tables are totally turned for me too! the guy i’m seeing was already thinking of combining our surnames and when we started dating was making plans to take me home for thanksgiving and coming to meet my parents in christmas.
Hopefully, it all goes well!

Honestly, it does sound like the girl is over planning. New Year's plans? Are you kidding me? It's not even Halloween and you know exactly what you want to do for New Years, but not only for your but for a guy you like as well. Wow. If you've only been dating him for a few weeks now making plans for New Year's right now seems over eager.

I have to agree with Mollie…if you just met him, it's a little soon to plan New Years.I'm not a guy–I'm a female who loves to plan, but if a guy asked me about New Years NOW, even I'd be a little weirded out.

I started dating a guy last month and bought hockey tickets for the middle of next month and was worried about asking him.. let along New Year's.

I have learned with a past relationship that was three years off and on not to talk about the future. Even if he says something about it. Guys are weird. He like told me I wanted to get serious. There confusing and I have realized unfortunately I am not allowed to talk commitment with anyone. Men suck.
