Love Em or Hate Em: High Waisted Jeans

Remember when jeans came in Low, Super Low, Extra Low, and Dangerously Low? Yeah. Those could all be summed up into one rise: Show-Your-Crack Low.
Yeah, those were the days. You would sit in class and have no choice but to stare at the ass-crack of the girl in front of you. If you were lucky, she was wearing bikini style underwear. Otherwise, it was nothing but crack.
Well, people got sick of it – especially designers. In order to combat the crack, style makers decided to take jeans higher. Much higher. Enter the high waisted jean; it is very retro, very chic and very in right now.
While I love the lack of gratuitous crack in my life, I am not sure how I feel about the high waisted pant. Yes, Fergie looks great in a pair of high-waisted skinnies, but can all women really pull of this look?

Rebecca, I completely agree! Whenever I go shopping, I perpetually try this style on in hopes that it WON'T enlarge everything from the waist down… but to no avail. High-waisted pants are meant for Heidi Klum and no one else, haha

I agree that high-waisted pants are only for people with 0% body fat, but why has no one commented on the fact that Fergie's belt is absolutely ridiculous?! What's the point of putting a big, thick belt around your hips if you're wearing high-waisted pants?

Girls with no butt and hips and long torso will be able to pull this off… i personally am not a fan of these high waisters (exception is wide legs).

these are good if you're wearing them under something… i know that completely negates the purpose, but if you dont have a perfect body type, these wrok well to slim you and keep from the muffin top under a tunic, or a clingier shirt.

I wear nothing but high waisted jeans. They make your legs look super long, and they are comfortable. they go to your natural waist, so you don't have to constantly adjust your jeans as they sag ever lower until your crotch goes down to your knees. Thats NO FUN! But I don't like the ones that are shown here. they are weird. Why do they have a belt arounfd the hips?

Actually, guys lovve them. Like I say, they go to the natural waist. The ones shown above are weird, and not at all like the typical high waist jeans people wear. Typical high rise jeans are just jeans that go to the natural waist. They show off a girls figure and make legs look long. They DON"T have a weird waist and strange buttons. Those look like low rise jeans with extra material on top. The regular ones are flattering, and most important comfortable. I have had several guys tell me thats how jeans SHOULD fit. Mostly they are surprised that what I wear are high waisted because I think they are expecting something weird hand super fashiony like the picture.
