2007 was my worst new years. I was with my ex boyfriend (we weren't even dating anymore at the time) the guy I was hooking up with , plus his girlfriend (who became my "best friend" that night, despite my attempts not too), and all of my hookups friends. When midnight hit I had a few options, kiss my ex, kiss one of my hookups friends, or try and fight with my hookups gf to see who got to kiss him (which would have been horrible since she didn't know we were hooking up) instead I made sure I had the champagne bottle at midnight, took a huge gulp, and screamed my head off.

2008 and 2009 were amazing. 2008 I was with my (single) hookup who I was majorly crushing on, and all of our mutual friends, and at midnight we kissed for the first time in front of everyone. then we had drunk sex in his car and went back to my house and had more drunk sex. The next morning I woke up super hungover at 8 and he braved running into my parents to get me water and Tylenol. Then we laid in my better and talked for six hours. We fell head over heels in love that day and started dating 3 weeks later. This year was our second new years together and we threw the party of the year at our house.

I think that it really just depends on your outlook. There are always house parties where the required material for invitation is only knowing the right people and perhaps bring some booze.

Also, it is not a horrible thing to spend the night single! New Year's Eve is a great chance to kiss someone you've been crushing on (or spontanuity – some hot stranger)…

Also nothing is better than having a small, simple and cheap! night with the girls… No fancy get up required… just friendship

I think that as long as your with the right people you can't go wrong. My best friend and I went downtown in Kansas City. I only spent about $35 the whole night and we had a blast! I even got my picture with Elvis :-p

i'm 23 and i've never gone out for NYE. idk why…it's like the 'post-xmas' slump. i'm fat, feeling really homely and my bed with champagne and tiramisu (with whipped cream) and the boyfriend in fuzzy PJs… watching old trashy movies is the best NYE ever.

Ha, I hate not having plans, but last year my boyfriend and I made a last-ditch effort and drove an hour over to the Hard Rock Casino (amongst others) and ended up getting trashed with two (rich) strangers all night…

They even gave us a place to crash until we realized it was time we head home. But so much fun and completely without any pre-planning or money spending.. Highly unlikely, but one of the best New Years ever!

i feel the same way! i ended up figuring out my plans yesterday. at like 11pm. it involves a 2 hour drive, but other than it's basically free. let's see how it goes…
