He Said/She Said: Red Flags That Send Him Running

175232__howtobop_l.jpgIt was cold out. There was nothing on TV. I was PMSing. And, yes, I cried multiple times while watching How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days on DVD.

I don’t know if it was my tumultuous history with men that got me so emotional, or simply the pain of knowing that Matthew McConaughey will never be mine, but that movie gets me every time. And while I know that Kate Hudson’s character goes way over the top to push her man away, I really couldn’t stop wondering what kinds of things really send dudes running for the hills.

It is obvious I am doing something wrong – guys have been running away from me since we started playing playground tag in middle school. And now the game has long since been over, but I still can’t hold a man down…without the aid of handcuffs. But, let’s be real, that’s a whole different conversation.

I couldn’t stand the thought of sitting home alone with a chick flick for one more night so I turned to a guy to give me the answers: just what are ladies doing to send the boys packing?

alright, fairly legit, but are we really gonna get on some girl for having bipolar and an eating disorder? i understand it’s a deterrent for a potential boyfriend, but it’s not like she asked for it, dude. there’s a big difference between being possessive and being bulimic.

Kelly, Agreed. While that girl probably shouldn’t be dating and should be taking care of herself, somethings just aren’t a girls fault. Bipolar disorder has a genetic component to it. Everyone needs some lovin’! Plus I know plenty of people with issues with depression, it causes relationship strains, and the people may act crazy in the eyes of their partner because of it, but they are not actually crazy.

That comment about eating disorders was definitely way off. Having an eating disorder doesn’t make you crazy, and it doesn’t make you a bad person. It means you’re sick, and that isn’t your fault.

It’s easy to joke about eating disorders when you’re life hasn’t been affected by them, but think before you act. Your words can be very hurtful.

Seriously? Get over it… Sure its a real disorder, but no one wants to date or deal with someone with those kinda issues. (I’ve been that girl before to an extent- believe me, guys do NOT want to deal with that shit)

And yes, someone who is always obsessing about what/how much they eat, etc. is not going to be much fun to hang out with.

Now, no one ever said they weren’t good people, just too much stress/craziness to date.

Chill out people and find something else to get wound up about.

haha- I found this article to be quite funny.

And its sooo true that girls can act super crazy/clingy in the early stages of dating.

But honestly, I’ve had SO many guys act the same way! lol

I dumped one guy for writing me a letter about how he thought we were soul mates after like a date and a half.

Another friend of mine went berzerk and psycho when I told him I wasn’t looking for a “serious” relationship. He was at my apartment nearly every day!!

Several others just got really depressed and whiny… God I cant stand a guy who acts like a doormat.

Thank god I’ve been with my boyfriend for about 2 yrs now, (dated for 5) although how he handles my crazy PMS every month is beside me!

We need a article now about how guys scare off cool chicks by trying to get them pregnant! (*cringes…..)

I’m certainly crazy (bipolar, recovering bulimic, etc), and not /that/ pretty. For some strange reason, I’ve always had plenty of guys interested in me. I’m a total bitch, too. Guys baffle me.

Having an eating disorder may be a sickness – but it’s sickness that makes you fucking crazy. Eating yogurt and two slices of cheese for breakfast and then feeling anxiety about eating a third piece of cheese IS CRAZY! And you’re right, it’s not the girl’s fault – it’s her crazy-ass mother’s fault.
