The City: Allie Needs a Cookie

restaurant_1_0270.jpg

Tonight’s episode of The City was actually sorta entertaining. I am even willing to look past the fact that Erin lives in a ridiculous apartment in NYC and affords it by having spent the past year and a half “soul searching,” and the fact that she just wanted a job…and got one.

Why was it so good? Why, because Kelly Cutrone and her big mouth were there to throw a little spice into an extremely bland series.

So, Kell has a birthday party and Whitney decides to invite jobless Erin and skinny Allie. Whitney, of course, warns the ladies that Kelly speaks her mind (read: is a bitch), so they better watch out. Allie is so excited! She loves people who speak their mind!!

Unless that someone has something bad to say about her. Like how they hate her leggings. Or that she’s too skinny and looks like she hasn’t eaten a sandwich in 6 years.

Allie storms off in a huff and writes Kelly Cutrone off as a bitch. Now, I agree that Ms. Cutrone is sort of a biznatch, but let’s be honest for a second. Allie is really skinny (the girl makes Whitney look big); if she did indeed have some sort of eating disorder or problem, then Kelly’s concerns would be valid and no one would ever think she was being a bitch. She probably didn’t have to bring it up 12 times at the bar, but how many times have you said the same thing over and over again when you were boozing? (“OMG I love your dress! No, seriously, I love your dress! Where did you get such a cute dress? I LOVE IT!”)

And in all honesty, Allie needs a freaking cupcake Costo cake.

Whitney is all stressed about the sitch and, as is the case on all MTV shows, uses her time at work to sort it all out. Leave it to Olivia Palermo to break it all down gently for her: “We wouldn’t have Shamu coming down the runway!”So eloquent, Olivia. It’s quite clear this girl has gotten through life on her plastic-surgery-enhanced looks and not any sort of personality.

Which seems to be the case for everyone surrounding Whitney in NYC. Everyone besides K.C.

Kelly Cutrone is the only person to bring anything to the overpriced and trendy table on The City. And I think I might love her for it. I need to meet her. Sure, I am sorta afraid of what she’d say about me and my style choices, but I know for a face she would have no questions about my eating habits.

I love K.C. to death, but I don’t see anything wrong with Allie’s weight. Yeah, she’s slim, but she’s a model! At least she isn’t disgustingly rail thin. I did enjoy K.C. throwing some drama into this tired show, though.

I dont know how anyone can think she isn’t RAIL thin… I could see the bones of her inner elbows sticking out last night, and that’s odd. And at 5′9, 125, I’m quite the skinny girl myself…

I do agree it was pretty harsh of Kelly Cutrone, but I mean, she probably works with girls with eating disorders all the time, so maybe she really was trying to be helpful…?

Then again, the girl did ask for her opinion.

I agree with the person above. In previous episodes Allie didn’t look too thin, but in this episode I actually saw her shoulders, arms and legs. She’s TINY! I know Whitney’s legs are extremely slim, but next to Allie, she looked huge! It was rather scary man. I can only imagine her true weight considering tv adds an additional 10 lbs! I still think she’s a fly model though :)

The scene was scripted like the rest of the show. Allie is not too skinny. She is a model for god sakes! She is not going to look like a pig while trying to sell products for companies. Who is going to buy something that a fat pig who has no self control is her eating habits has endorsed? It makes no sense. Unless she is in a fast food commercial or like a commerical for cookies, the way she looks is fine.

    Gwen, you’re an idiot.

    thats all.

Jealous much? Just because Allie is a model and probably is the weight that you wish you could be “uh,” doesn’t mean you have to throw a hissy fit. If there was something wrong with her weight, would she ever get hired for jobs or even be signed to an agency? Obviously there is a demand for her look or else she would be unemployed. Stop being jealous and do something about your weight. Maybe then you can quit crying.

    Actually ass… I’m “Uh” and I’m 5′9 1/2 and 125 lbs. My BMI is 18, so I’m probably smaller than you…

Im just not stupid, is all. I know elbow-bones sticking out is unhealthy, AND unflattering. THanks. Now go stick your foot in your mouth somewhere else… geez.

and Ps. I’ve been modeling since I was 14… I just quit to go to college… how about that. I’ve got quite a few friends who are professional models for Boss and Elite, and NONE of them are that skinny. They eat helthy and work out. They’re quite thin, and fit, but not looking like that, they’re agencies wont even allow them to look that skinny.

I’m just so fed up with people thinking that the only reason you’d say something about a model’s weight is because you are automatically fat and jealous. Thats so freaking stupid.

gwen is an idiot, and probably has an eating disorder herself. that’s the only reason to get so defensive.

“they’re agencies wont even allow them to look that skinny.”

    They are agencies..???

Are you sure you are in college?

If she was too skinny, she wouldn’t be able to get jobs. It is as simple as that. She must have booked a job over you and you are holding a grudge. Calm Down. Allie looks normal and a healthy weight.

WOW, Yes! I happen to live in NYC right down the street from her and we throw bicuits at each other every day as we pass on our way to work! …How did you know?! We actually had a “model-off” in ‘06 to see who could walk in the highest heels on waxy floors without falling first!

Geez… that’s even MORE logical than the first assumption that I was fat and jealous.

Well, thanks! I’m done here. You’ve proved yourself to be completely dumb all on your own, so I dont even need to elaborate this point anymore. :)

    To Jes,

You’re a beautiful girl, and from the picture you look like a healthy weight. I totally agree with you about Allie! She is ridiculously, concentration camp looking skinny. Looking at her makes me want to cry! It is so sad that anyone thinks starving skinny looks healthy or attractive. I’d die before I looked like a stick figure!

I’ve had an eating disorder for three years,

    so here’s my input.

Regardless of Allie being to thin or not,

there is absolutly no way to tell if she has an eating disorder or not.

All I can tell you is that it is completly possible for it to be so, the majority of models now are too think or under weight.

Society’s image has become smaller and smaller,

and women will do whatever it takes to be noticed.

There are tons of agencies that would be more then willing to hire a model under weight, that is what’s considered in now.

But anyways, my point is that anyone can have an eating disorder, and unless you personally know this person.. you have no reason or right to assume that she does

because if she doesn’t, it is not something she needs to have following her around, and it’s not something you can light heartedly through around and choose people to place it on

and it is DEFITNITLY not something to be proud of, if you think that it is okay or attractive, you’re wrong.

Women are meant to be vuluptuous, women are meant to have curves, men don’t find bones and loose skin attractive, men don’t find girls who look 12 to be arozing, The only people that find this attractive are mind-warped people with eating disorders like myself, and that is only because we’ve trained ourselves to be

it is not something to be proud of, or cold hearted about

it is life or death, it is a constant battle for the rest of your life, it is lonely, it is alienating, and it is the most painful journey you will ever have to spen through life.

    goodbye

I’m a model who has an eating disorder.

Often times you can tell who is naturally very thin and who is “sick”. When someone is naturally thin, they tend to have healthy looking skin, hair and nails. When someone is starving themselves (like Allie obviously is) you can not only see it physically, but they lack energy when moving about.

There are very thin models and then there are sickly thin models. In the industry, there is a demand for both.

    GWEN! i agree w/ u 100%!
allie is a model.not all model r anorexics, not all of them r nice or evil or whatever. they r just working, they work w/ their bodies, many designers want different types of models, black, fat, small and thin, tall and thin. it’s just a job. if alle doesn’t die, she’s okay.let her be.

The CC Weekly Weigh In: Let’s Say Thanks

Like most families, mine gathers around the dinner table on Thanksgiving and (after making fun of each other for a few minutes) shares what they are most thankful for that year. Growing up, I hated this tradition; it was so cheesy and lame. But now that I’m an adult, going around the table at Thanksgiving allows me to tell my family how much I love them…
