    Cooper Union (the free college in the link) is indeed free (besides room and board) but INCREDIBLY hard to get into. Even before this spike in admissions, it was a very selective school. Furthermore, the school is not for everyone. Meaning if you don't want to major in art or engineering, you need not apply, as those are their only offered fields of study.
