Down With Adam Lambert!

Adam-Lambert-1The biggest criticism people have about our generation is that we don’t fight for anything. Unlike those who stood firmly against Vietnam, racial inequality, or the lack of women’s rights, we sorta sit back and let other people fight the battles today. We are lazy. We are greedy. Yada, yada, yada.

But I disagree.

I am not lazy and I will fight battles I am passionate about. Namely: America’s love for Adam Lambert.

When Mr. Lambert first tried out for American Idol I thought he was good…. in an over-the-top “I was in every high school musical” sort of way. He had a good voice, but he was loud and obnoxious and would really only shine as the lead in some sort of off-Broadway musical dedicated to the songs of Queen. He also had a horrible haircut and a serious addiction to guy-liner.

I wasn’t surprised when they let him through, but I never thought the day would come when Simon Cowell joined the millions of screaming teenage girls falling head-over-heels in love with Adam Lambert.

And watching Cowell plead with America to vote Lambert into the final two has made me angry. So angry, in fact, that I threw a perfectly good homemade chocolate chip cookie at the TV last night. Which my roommate promptly picked up and ate. I will not sit back and watch that karaoke freak take the coveted title away from two far superior singers. I refuse to let that man ruin a perfectly classic U2 song and then be crowned America’s idol. I will not let millions of impressionable young boys get a reverse mullet and start slathering on the man makeup.

Someone has to stop this insanity and if it has to be me, then so be it. I’m officially starting an Anti Adam Lambert revolution. I may not be able to take to the streets (mostly because I’m afraid of the wrath of the tweens), but I will use the power of my iPhone (and my votes)  to end this Lambert madness. Who’s with me!?

It is never easy to go against the world and stand up for what you believe in, but this is an issue that just cannot be ignored. Down with Adam Lambert!

I did vote for him a couple times, but whenever I called it wasn’t busy so that can’t be a good sign. I think he has a great voice but I’m rooting the most for Gokey.

    I love Kris’ style.

Adam is the only reason that I’ve been able to stay awake this season.

Gokey just acts like a jerk.

I’d be happy regardless of whether Kris or Adam win.
    Anybody but Gokey.

    Dude, preach.
Adam is so WAY too over the top and frankly seems full of himself. I don’t think he’s a good singer. Yes, he can wail and stick out his tongue half way while doing it and hit incredibly high notes, but to me, it’s way too staged and not natural. Listening to him preform once is fine, but if he was named the American Idol, millions would buy a c.d. with twelve different song names, but all of them would sound exactly the same and have that incredibly annoying wail to top it off. Just my opinion.

Kris on the other hand, oh baby, he’s good.

    Two far superior singers? Really?

Kris is good, but Danny Gokey is terrible! If shouting through every song allowed someone to win American Idol then maybe I should try out next year. Not only is he a talentless bore, but he is a thousand times more cocky than Lambert. Plus, I personally think Gokey lacks any ounce of sex appeal.

Ugh. I don’t get the Gokey-hype, but to each their own. I am personally hoping for a Adam/Kris finale.

Sorry, not with you there. Adam’s interesting, Danny sucks, and I don’t really care about what’s his name…

Frankly I am shocked at your attitude. Time and again Adam has shown us his ability to sing anything and do it incredibly well. Smokey Robinson gave him a standing ovation for his performance – are you more in tune with the music industry than Smokey? The toughest critic out there, Simon Cowell, gave him a standing ovation – something that he NEVER does. So your smear campaign will fall on deaf ears for the most part. Danny Gokey is not the entertainer that you think. He will turn every concert into a revival meeting, mark my words. Kris, although very talented, I can’t see packing stadiums. The only one that can and will deliver the goods is Adam. What you call screeching is not – you could only wish to have the control with your voice that he has. Obviously there are many more people than you realized that loved what he’s doing. Do what you think you have to but it won’t make any difference anyway.

Adam is the most awesome, amazing person who has ever been on the show in all 8 seasons. If you can’t see that, that’s really sad. Personally, the hair, makeup and all that don’t bother me (I actually like it)…he’s gorgeous either way and by the way, he is a very nice guy…not a guess, this I know for a FACT.

I’m on team Adam.He seems the most bankable one to me.I dont think it really matters who wins AI anyway cuz they will all get record deals. So its a win-win situation for all.I like that other dude’s version of Heartless .That was the best performance for me.

I think Adam is way more talented than the rest, he’s actually unique and has an amazing voice. American Idol is pretty terrible in the first place but then there’s people like you who love the cookie cutter kids. fuck, i hate the modern music industry.

OMG!!! I completely agree! Adam is way too over the top and Danny should not have been sent home tonight – he has way more variety and talent! Wrong choice America, wrong choice!

I’m on team Kris. I haven’t been a fan of Adam since he sang Reign of Fire. I understand why people like him though, but after the season finale; I will not listen to him on my own accord again.

And when did it become acceptable for guys to wear makeup? I don’t even wear that much eyeliner. ever.

You are retarded. One you said you are passionate about fighting against America’s love for Adam Lambert. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Second, you said he is loud, he is a very vocal singer, which is perfect for a SOLO ARTIST! Which he is. If you would actually pay attention to his singing you’d notice his vocal range and ability is amazing. Listen to when he sang Mad World by Tears For Fears…he was amazing but loud and obnoxious. That was probably the best performed song I’ve EVER heard on Idol.
    Get a clue girl.

Also, who cares if he wears eyeliner. David Bowie does it, Billy Idol does it, Pete Wentz does it, My Chemical Romance does it, as does the singer of AFI.
Deal with it, it’s just fashion.

Kris Allen and Danny Gokey are far superior singers than Adam? Thank you, I really needed a good laugh. Did you not hear the horrific scream when Danny sung “Dream On?” I happen to like Kris too, but it’s very obvious that Adam has range far beyond Kris could ever hope to have. I think the “We are the Champions” performance perfectly showcased that. I don’t understand, if you dislike Adam so much, you would even take the effort to vote against him. Very immature and you clearly need a hobby. Also, as the post above me says, lots of musicians wear eyeliner. Deal with it. About Adam being loud and obnoxious, you must have missed his “Mad World” performance or are just ignoring it because of his “horrible haircut and obsession with guy-liner.” FYI, not all Adam fans are “tweens” as you say. I would think the “tweens” would be the ones who voted for Kris because he’s just “so adorable.” To sum it up though, you’re a moron.

Adam’s appeal crosses gender and age. I’m a grandmother of five and I love him. My five year old grandson wants to be him. He has a special something we’re all struggling to understand. You watch! He’s going to be a megastar and he’s a very nice, well spoken, genuine person on top of it all!

I think he probably liked how he appeared in photographs in the stage makeup he had to wear for the many theatrical productions he had been in and decided he photographed better without freckles showing through. His real coloring is more like his father’s. I really don’t like the anime haircut on a guy that old and it also looks weird when he wears suits. Having said that I’m fascinated by his face and persona. His singing is out of this world. I love the little yodel he does in Mad World when he sings the line “I was very nervous”. I would love to see him in a Pirates of the Carribean movie with Johnny Dep. He’d be a great-looking pirate, but that wouldn’t showcase all his talents.

OK HERES THE THING. adam is amazing. this is why. 1. he takes risks, and jumps where no other contestants have dared to even look. 2. Ididn’t no those notes existed. 3. You either hate or love him (most love) but at least hes exciting and u want to talk about him. kris? um i dont love or hate him. is that rlly that interesting..? 4. ADAM HAS THE WHOLE PACKAGE AND MORE. ORIGINAL, BRINGING THEATRICS TO THE POPSCENE (Which is new) AND BEING HIMSELF N NOT MOLDING TO IDOL STANDARDS! 5. i (and prob many others) did not start religiously watching season 8 until I laid my eyes on adam lambert. finally 6.
