The CC Weekly Weigh In: We Wish We Could Forget
May 22, 2009 Posted in HaHa
The purpose of Memorial Day is not to get together with family and have a cookout; it is actually to remember and honor those who have fallen for this country. So, in honor of the day that is devoted to remembering things, we thought we’d focus on those things that we’d much rather forget.
Like that time we gave some guy a fake name…and then gave him a different fake name in the morning. Or that one incident involving wind, a flowy skirt, no clean underwear left, and a street full of people.
So, here’s to the men and women who fought to give us the freedom to make some really dumb decisions. We salute you!
Norah – Drake University: All of the cattiness in middle school – I could have been spending that time having fun with my friends instead of contributing to all that drama.
Charlsie – Hollins: The sketchy make-out line my best friends and I started at this fraternity party our freshman year. It was our first time visiting that fraternity, we danced and made-out with gross boys to “Snow” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I am pretty sure half the fraternity pulled out their camera phones to capture the sketchiness around the beer pong table.
Sarabeth – University of Texas: I really want to forget the time that a guy walked up to me talking like he knew me, but I had no idea who he was so I pretended to be deaf so I wouldn’t have to talk to him…I’m so embarrassed.
Danielle – Boston University: Eww I ate mussels once. They’re disgusting. I never want to put anything that slimy in my mouth ever again! (Editor’s Note: That’s what she said. Zing!)
Alex – Lakehead University: I wish I could forget this Halloween. Puking behind a gas station with my brand new boyfriend…
Lauren – University of Michigan: Just one? Hm… That would probably be the time I wore a really tight button down to the bar and didn’t discover that the top three buttons had busted open and completely exposed my goodies until I got home. Why didn’t anyone tell me!?
Brithny – Duke: Those middle school “finding yourself” years when one day I would wear overalls and my Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt, and the next day a pink miniskirt with electric blue eyeshadow. Sweet outfits, I know.
Sara C- Fordham: I went to a Eurotrash-themed party during my freshman year. The party was great, but my outfit was totally forgettable. Silver mesh sleeveless wrap, neon green tank, unflattering leggings that were too big–I should have stuck to the beret-and-fake-mustache look like everyone else. Yuck!
Lauren H – The New School: I would much rather forget the year that I decided to give myself a bottle-job strawberry-blond bob. I thought I was all hot and edgy… for a year! What were you thinking, younger self?
Erica – Kent State: When I decided to bring a random guy from my hometown back to my parent’s house at 4 in the morning for a little bump&grind…and then had to eat breakfast with the fam the next morning. AWKWARD.
Elizabeth – UC Berkeley: Hooking up with a German exchange student on the roof of a frat house after knowing him for 2 hours. …And then introducing myself to him the next night because I didn’t remember what he looked like.
Hey, at least half of that memory is blacked out…
Melanie – Northeastern: The time I gave my ex-boyfriend a blow job the morning after a night of sloppy ex-sex. For a bagel.
Cristina – Michigan State University: One time at a frat party my good friend took a swig of liquor and puked all over my arm and hand and her crush’s shoes. In the dead center of the party. In front of everyone.
Liza M – Minnesota: That time in middle school when I decided that I was going to wear two super padded bras at the same time to make my boobs look bigger…So awkward.
Jill – University of Wisconsin: Chasing my college crush down the street to prevent him from driving drunk. While the idea was noble, the events that unfolded (namely, my boobs…outside of my shirt), not so much.
Maddie – Tufts: In all honesty, I once broke up with a guy because he came to school one day with a really bad hair-do. He was really cute and I still regret it…
