If he'd sarcastically bowed and blown a kiss to a hated teacher- maybe. But to his mom? And since when is blowing a kiss bad? It isn't as though he thought mooning his mom was a nice display of affection.

I'd like to add that, as Valedictorian, not all of us are boring. XD You're article made it sound as though it is automatically expected for Valedictorians to be hated and snooze-worthy.
