Making alcohol is quite fun, and not all that hard. At home waxing isn't bad, either. Especially if you use sugaring or another method that does not involve heated wax.

I disagree about the waxing, its not really that difficult to do, just painful. I've waxed my own legs and eyebrows and they've turned out just fine. Not sure how I'd feel about a bikini wax though. Also I have pierced my own ears multiple times and as far as I'm concerned the only danger there is having the holes be uneven. As long as you use a clean sterilized needle and earrings, and clean and rotate them everyday just like you would normally do, you'll probably be fine.
