I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

My school didn't allow us to jump of the swing sets, but we bent the rules and just kicked our shoes off as far as we could. The farther you could get the shoe, the better, and we had different point zones, depending on what playground equipment your shoe landed past. Negative points for hitting the "little kids" and bonus points if you could hit this one crazy boy who always tried to steal the shoes. Ha ha. :) We always had a ref and a look out. The look out yelled "FIRE" when we were all swinging high and the playground supervisor wasn't looking.

I LOVE that game, still!

Chinese jump rope was all the rage when I was in elementary school. I still have mine at home somewhere. Unfortunately, there was this one girl I played with who always insisted on getting do-overs...=/

Favorites included four square (my personal favorite. I could beat even the best boys in my class, and I was a shrimp back then. I would play four square again in a heartbeat if offered) along with lava monster, and "who can climb to the top of the rusted poles that used to be basketball hoops the fastest" (another I was good at. I think they took those poles down now, though. Tetanus or something.)

We used to see who could jump off the swing the furthest. It was all fun and games until that one kid got a wood chip lodged in his hand.

He ruined it for the rest of us.
