I’m just gonna say it: vagina wigs are back and thank. gawd. I mean, I have been literally holding my breath, waiting for the day when I could accessorize my crotch without punching holes in my genitalia and putting rings and such down there (genital piercings = not okay). Plus, “merkin” is just a fun word to say and if it wasn’t en vogue, then I would just be a creeper, walking down the street and muttering “merkin, merkin” under my breath. Now I can be socially acceptable! …right?
Aside from the magnificent addition to my everyday vocabulary, there are tons of reasons why I’m happy vagina wigs are making a come back. They’re really quite versatile pieces. I don’t know how we got along without them as an integral part of our wardrobes. In fact, I can think of hundreds of ways to incorporate the merkin into any and all of my outfits. Night out with the girls? Sequined merkin. Day at the park? Turf merkin (000 matchy matchy). Interview? Tweed merkin (perhaps a tad scratchy). Read More »

This week, all eyes are on Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor as the Senate confirmation hearings rule the media (and not just sleep-inducing C-SPAN, for once). This is a historic time for the United States, as Sotomayor may become the first Hispanic and only the third woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
But what do we know about this woman?
To help you stay informed, we’ve filtered through the media’s deluge of reports on Sotomayor and have compiled this handy fact sheet, summarizing her rulings and positions on some important issues: Read More »

If there’s one thing we love in life, it’s partying with the girls. For free. So, we’re throwing a party. And it’s all free.
There will be fabulous cocktails, tasty snacks, and your favorite dance-able jams. Everyone will also have the chance to take home some super sweet prizes, from a brand-spanking-new HP computer to spa treatments to a tour of NBC’s 30 Rock.
All you have to do is put on your party shoes (flats, for real) and show up. Oh, and it also helps if you are in NYC, as anything else would be a long walk o’ shame home in the morning.
So grab your girls and come party with us July 29th from 6-9 p.m. at Vig 27.
Check out our invite and RSVP for a night of total fabulosity.
We’ll be there, will you??
P.S. 21 and up, ladies.
P.P.S. CollegeCandy is not responsible for lack of productivity the following day. Might be a good idea to take the day off. Just sayin….

This week was a good, if not totally random, week for music. I mean, who groups Daughtry, Jack White’s the Dead Weather, and the soundtrack to 500 Days of Summer in one category? I do. And I love them all.
Though, in totally different ways.
Chris Daughtry I love in a good-boy rocker kind of way. Jack White I love in a creepy weirdo fascination kind of way. And the 500 Days of Summer I love in a Zooey Deschanel kind of way. I love music in lots of different ways and this week is a prime example of how much my love can vary. Read More »

I like traveling. It’s pretty sweet. Not only do you get the experience of having been in another country and surrounded by customs and traditions completely different (sometimes) from your own, but you also get bragging rights (ex: Oh last summer? I was in Malaysia. No big deal.). Traveling also means you get to “cut loose” as it were.
When else can you justify a massive shopping trip (I can’t find those clothes at home!) followed by a 14-hour bender at the local watering hole? I mean, I’ve tried it at home before (“staycation” my foot), but my mom ends up getting pretty peeved.
Possibly the most exciting part of traveling is the foreign men…or, at least, men who aren’t from your home state and didn’t live across campus from you sophomore year. Flirting, tippling some drinks, getting introduced to a new bar scene (oh, the wonders of a bar that I haven’t vommed in yet) are all reasons to gas up and head out.
But sex while traveling? Now that’s a whole other adventure. Read More »

One of the best things about summer is that the style is easy, breezy and casual. That makes dressing for day to night a cinch; it doesn’t take much to make a smooth transition. That applies most easily to summer florals; flowy and flirty by day can turn into edgy and sophisticated by night.
And all you need are a few simple swaps. Read More »

No one said breaking up was easy. And either way – whether you are the one dumping, or the dumpee – your position sucks. So you would think that the one who is calling it quits would at least be a little bit sympathetic, gentle with their words, something!
I’m not talking about a five-hour explanation, optional break-up sex and some goodbye gifts, either. I’m just saying, I don’t know, maybe waiting until after Jessica’s birthday, Tony Romo? Maybe not ruining the one day a year that belongs to her for life? Maybe letting her enjoy the giant birthday bash she planned before packing up her things and FedExing them to her house?
You do have a heart, right, Tony?! RIGHT?! Read More »
[Ever see something you want but don’t have the money to buy? Ever get sick of studying/watching TV and have the urge to get crafty and make things on your own? We know! Us too! We just don’t know where to start, which is why we got some of CollegeCandy’s craftiest writers to share their favorite DIY projects with everyone. These things are easy, fun and a great way to save some serious cashola.]
So, based on my DIY crafting history, it is obvious that I have a lot of t-shirts lying around. A lot. I just can’t part with stuff that has so much history. And these t-shirts are all souvenirs from really big moments in my life (except the free credit card tees I get on the way to class – I’m not sure why I haven’t gotten rid of those ones yet…)
I’ve been lugging some of these shirts (like the one from my high school senior-all-night-party) around for 3+ years and I recently realized it was time to put them on display like they deserve. Which is why I’ve started turning them into things I actually use. Like an awesome shop-till-you-drop tote bag. Or an adorable throw pillow for your bed or couch.
This little project frees up space in your closet, adds some cute comfort to your bedroom/living room, and allows you to display those important memories (without risk of getting really crusty/yellow armpits). Yes, the DIY T-Shirt Pillow is a total win/win.
