Wonderful article. I wish I had access to this a couple of years ago when I was 18 and fresh out of high school. I left for school and immediately got two store credit cards and a another with a $3000.00 limit. They were maxed out by the end of freshman year and I couldn't afford to pay the balances. My credit rating took a serious hit and it took me a very long time to pay them off. I think college students should stay away from credit cards all together. There isn't enough income to justify having three shiny plastic cards in your wallet.

This is a great article. From experience I can tell you credit cards are bad. I was always very responsible with my money, I had budgets and Excel spreadsheets and I didn't quite believe the hype that credit cards are trouble. When I got a $3,000 credit card bill and had no idea how I'd let it get so high, I realized that little plastic card takes a lot of determination to handle. It's taken me almost two years to get that debt back under control. I'm just glad I learned my lesson in college and not after graduation when I'll be paying college loans back as well.
