Do you need a new computer?

We put out a call to CollegeCandy readers last week to submit their P.O.S. computer sob stories (with photos, of course!) to win a brand new laptop bundle from HP. And boy were there a lot of them. Seriously, we had no idea so many of you were still using desktops! WTF?!

We spent the weekend sifting through the entries (and drinking) looking for the worst of the worst and narrowed it down to five really crap-tastic computing experiences.

Which one is the crappiest? You tell us. Vote below for the person most deserving of the coveted HP Laptop Bundle. And tell your friends to vote too! One of these 5 people needs a new computer stat and you could be the person to help them get it.

    Interesting, I thought the giveaway details said "…send us a picture of YOU WITH that old P.O.S that you’re currently trying to work with…"

    Yup and no picture of themselves,just their crappy laptop or desktop,you could get countless such images on net,I think the first image only qualifies the rules

    oh wow i didn't know it was like a joke contest i wouldn't have sent a real pic of a real person in real need of a computer, i would have sent a picture of a cardboard box with a computer drawn on the side a teddy bear and an abacus, half those computers aren't used regularly. im voting for #4 it looks like the only computer actually plugged in to a power outlet. #1 had money he don't NEED.

    Looking at the finalists, I get why some people are angry. Technically none of those pictures follow the rules that were given. It would have helped if the rules have been more specific about the type of pictures the judge(s) were looking for and the number of finalists up for voting. Personally, I'm disappointed but I'm not mad. I was also a little disappointed with PTY's contest but not mad at them, either.

    So far, the only one of these HP giveaways that really pissed me off was the one over at Hack College which was run so poorly that I'm seriously debating if I should submit a complaint to HP.

    The first guy shouldn't even be in this competition. He's surrounded by instruments. AND has a laptop beside the computers. The third picture shows how well the new laptops would be taken care of, or that they just decided to bring it out of storage for this contest. It should really be between #4 and #5.

    Please!! The #2 entry is by far the most creative and deserving. The others are, at best, pedestrian.
