When I was in undergrad, I only went home for the holidays. My relationship with my parents is great when it's over the phone – in person, not so much. So, I avoided putting myself into that situation whenever possible. Plus, my parents don't cook very well, they don't do my laundry, and they insist on me waking up early. D: I love them, but I can't live with them. Not even for a weekend.

As much as I miss my family, as soon as I arrive, my mom and I get into spats. And wait…your mom does your laundry? Wow, someone sure is spoiled. I don't know about you, but I'm in charge of doing laundry at home when I bring back my dirty (it's free at college as well, but I don't like having to wake up at 6:00 in the morning). School is stressful, but it sure beats having my mom harp on me because I have a few small zits.

I just went home this weekend- despite being in college for a few years I still end up missing my family, good food, my dogs, and the vast amounts of grass/no pollution.

When I was home for the summer I was lucky if my mom had food in the pantry on weekends; this weekend I had 4 delicious meals. Plus going shopping with my mom is great, and unloading my car on Sunday night to find a big bag of delicious treats amid all the laundry was pretty amazing :)

Make sure to let your parents know if you appreciate coming home. It makes them way happy
